As far as I know, Polish Football Association did almost nothing to "win" him for Polish national team when he was 18 and wanted to decide where to play. This is, unfortunately, very frequent situation- for example Miroslav Klose also has Polish origin...
And I really do understand his choice, though I' m a Pole(or maybe because of this :]) - here, in Poland, it is really hard to develop your football skills... Polish Football Association is called "the last bastion of comunism(and communists:]) in Poland and, I'm afraid that this is true:/
It does not look nice, here, believe me. :/
What is more, he spent only his first two years in Poland, then he moved and grew up in Germany, so he is rather a German than Pole.
And I feel quite ashamed, because some of our politicians say, that now he should be deprived of Polish citizenship :/
And, for me, the most horrifying thing was that the best player in Polish team was Roger Guerreiro :]

Well the Betfair betting is going well so far. £2 per match, and I'm £24 up so far, with another few to come if Netherlands hang on to their 2-0 lead vs France :D .

Had an interesting chat with a friend who uses Betfair alot, today, about 'laying off' bets. Intriguing stuff - also, dangerously attractive!

So, I've backed croatia before tournament started, at 15 (14-1). Now that they've played so well, their odds have shortened to 10. So if I felt that actually, Croatia look good but there's no way they'll beat Spain or Netherlands, i can now Lay Croatia at their current odds of 10, and take my profit of 5xmy original bet. Guaranteed. Sounds good to me!

(now 3-1 to netherlands - what am i doing in here instead of watching match???????????)

Edit - ok I've been working out probabilities and now it's not so appealing!

You're both wrong, actually.

Germany 3 - 2 Portugal

Great game, really fast and attacking. Kept you watching til the end.
I knew Germany would win because this is the sort game which they like. The Germany team were bigger and we have seen that Portugal are not always best at set pieces.
Oh well, now Scolari can join Chelsea and C Ronaldo's future can finally be sorted.

Heeheehee I had fun last night! Guess who had £2 at 60-1 on germany winning 3-2?????
My rationale - Germany always win at this stage of competition. But Portugal will score at least two goals. Therefore 3-2 to the Germans.

Nice bet! I didn't think Portugal were going to go all the way, they have the same problem as England in that they've got some great players but they just aren't a team. Having Ricardo in goal isn't going to help either!

Germany are really the opposite, they normally only have one or two stand-out players but they have such a strong team mentality that they're always there or thereabouts.

I'm probably one of the few Americans who're watching... of course, I work from home so it's much easier ;-)

The Croatia - Turkey game was one of the dullest of the whole tournament ... until the 119th minute. That was amazing!

ps. now let's see if they have anyone left standing for the Germany match. Hope so...

Croatia 1 - 1 Turkey - AET - Turkey win 3 - 1 on Penalties

As said above, dull and boring match but with a grand-slam finish with Croatia scoring in 119 minutes and then Turkey scoring at 120+2 minutes. Turkey win on penalies. Turkey seem to have a 'will not die'.
I imagine that Germany will be very happy(nearly half the Turkey squad are out due to suspentions).
Turkey were 66-1 to wi this, similar to Greece last time....

Weren't the Russians impressive? :? unfortunately I had them to win after 90 minutes, not 120 minutes. Never mind.

Any team managed by Guus Hiddinck can beat any other team, no matter reputation.

Interesting to note that of the three quarter finals so far played, the teams that qualified early and rested their top players for the third match, have all gone out. I would suggest that at international level, it is more important to get the players playing as a team, and get them some momentum, than it is giving them a few days rest! On that rationale, Italy will beat the Spanish (though I suspect they would anyway, Spain being another like england and portugal, of those eternal under-achievers)

Russia look great last night so free moving its amazing how far they have come since their defeat to Spain ,they should have won it in 90 minutes Stonemaybe u was unlucky there cause they had loads of chances.
Im gunning for Spain to win tonight but their defence is a bit leaky but I hoping for a fast and interesting game.

Yah! Wasn't he amazing in that game?! Holy --! He made the Dutch defence look like swiss cheese! Amazing footwork and passing ability.

France 0 - 0 Spain - Spain win 4 - 2 Penalties

Fabregas was awesome, I really can't understand why Spain don't have him playing from the start.

I'm really glad Italy didn't go thru, like the announcer said they seemed to be playing for a draw the whole time...
