I bag it and then use it to mulch my tomato plants, I live way back in the woods so I don't mind if people see mine.

I most definetly need a grass box as I mow about 20 gardens a week and my clients would let rip if I left any cuttings on the lawn. But I do spread the grass clipping in the shrub borders as the worms love the grass when it starts to get moldy and it gives some nutrients back into the soil.

I've worked at a lawnmower service center for nearly twenty five years and I've never heard the term grass box. That's awesome!

Apparently clients on both sides of the pond have similar gripes. I hear the same thing from landscapers here in the US. The problem in my area is getting rid of the grass clippings. Most townships now forbid dumping grass clippings in your trash cans. The average landscaper is forced to either double cut lawns or charge a higher fee for bagging since they usually must pay to dump the grass at some sort of recycling facility.

Most of the people I know who cut their own lawns do not bag. Those who do bag either dump the clippings into a compost pile or into the woods.

As for me, I have weeds, moss and crabgrass. I never bag. In the spring and summer I mulch my lawn a few times a month because it simply does not growly quickly. I have too much sand to really care about starting a real lawn. In the fall I blow my ten million leaves (I'm surrounded by oaks and pines) to the front of my house just in time for the township to suck them up and spit them out into a big mulch pile at their local municipal center.

I think Wayfriend is right on about mulching and bagging. I also live in the Northeast, and typically grass grows fast in the spring and fall here. Unless you mulch every five days, or invest in an expensive lawnmower, you'll probably find it necessary to bag once in a while. Otherwise you'll end up with nassssty clumps of wet grass on your lawn.

And we try our damndest to make it the best looking weed around...even go so far as killing other weds (Dandelion's Red clovers) that actually LOOK GOOD and have a bit of colour from growing on our plain old green weeds.

Yes I have a yard....nearly an acre of Lawn too. Takes me two hours to mow it...I don't pull weeds...I even mow AROUND them sometimes...I don't use a bag catcher, I don't rake up the clipping...I just let them stay there...same with the apples that fall off the apple tree that are no good to eat.

I also don't mow my front yard...like AT ALL. It grows up to about two and half to three feet...and wildflowers grow up through it, and I (and the rest of our family ) think it looks good, and the kids like to play in it. And right now; my lawnaddict of a neighbour is mowing it down; just like he does every years; even though I tell him that we want to let it go the feild.


Don't be addicted to a perfectly groomed lawn.

Joking, I do my own lawn and a few neighbors' and thats all I can do.

I always use the grass catcher, we don't have this mulching blade mumbo jumbo (or I don't think we do).

What I really love, my parents used to have one of those old lawn mowers where it's like, you're pushing a wheel-barrow kinda thing and it doesn't use electricty and stuff, it was soo cool and mostly wooden, though it was a real pain.

I actually have a demonic pact with grass, I sacrifice chickens in my backyard to make the lawns grow faster and then I mow more and get more money. It's hard though, I don't actually make enough to make it worth the price of the chickens so I've started frying eggs on the sidewalk, it works out because when the sacrifice works out I get to eat them. Which is too bad since I actually hate eggs...

The other problem is that to increase the power of the demonic pact I have to buy 13-egg cartons, which are really hard to find. So there's really no affordable answer. I tried hunting some canadian geese eggs in the nearby park but those bastards are tough, thanks to the supreme court though I can get a gun soon.

I love mowing my lawn - get the headphones on and listen to something loud, and groove my way up and down ! Has to be loud though, Pogues or Pixies is good.

We have a recycling collection here that takes away garden waste inc lawn clippings every fortnight, so that the council can charge us extra to make themselves a profit by composting it all.

Tulizar thats what we call em over this side of the pond anyway.Now I must go and cut my own lawn and get of the computer.

I had a bit of experience "gardening," too, . . . but that had to stop over a decade ago.

We don't bag. Mulch it. Better for the environment.

I can't even vote since there isn't an option for "my mower didn't come with one."
