I agree and yet not. I guess I'm kind of goofy about it, because I'll watch the silliest games - that I would never even pause to glance when channel surfing - just because they're Olympic games. Some of them are historic. I mean, throwing a really heavy ball?? Yeah, I'm glued to the freakin' TV.

The trampoline. WTF? What I thought was a children's pastime is an Olympic sport? Yeah, yet again, I'm glued to the freakin' TV.

And they could pull out the hoola hoops and I'll still commit to watching it - as long as there's a medal involved and some dudes or dudettes specialized in it.

And keep in mind, other than the Olympics, I only watch american football.

There's just something romantic about the history of these games and players involved. Governments and business will do what they do, market the hell out of it, yadda yadda yadda. Like you say though, once the proverbial bell rings, all that shit's out the window and it's pure athletic competition.

I said I would watch 100 metres and I did. Bolt won it and broke the world record, he is soo bloody fast... he must be on something... his legs are the size of my torso and has a stride the size of a car.

What an appropriate name, huh?
