All we have in my area is free transportation from school to the voting place, and that's only during a few hours. I hope the lines aren't too long tomorrow or I may miss a class or two.

What if they are all equally useless liars?
I think you can drop the "what if" from that sentence.
And Seareach, I don't think you got enough of a taste of America if you don't realize our capacity of being able to complain. I think it is listed in the constitution somewhere that we always have the right to complain no matter what actions we take. You will need to return to America to complete your education about America.

:haha:

I heard about Krispy Kreme on the radio this morning, Menolly. <drool>

Our firm gives us two hours of admin leave to vote, so I'm going to leave early this morning. The commute in was a breeze this morning -- so many people were standing in line at the polls that traffic volume was like a holiday....

I voted. I don't care if I get anything for free. I even dragged Jorge, my building supervisor down to the polling place and made him vote.

I'm going to jump in on this bandwagon.

I'll give a free burp over the phone to anyone who voted.

Don't do it, Cag -- somebody might arrest you for it:

That said, now we *all* get free coffee and doughnuts! Is this a great country or what??

On the contrary, by voting, you tacitly agree to abide by the outcome, whether you like it or not. It's your way of telling the government that you accept their system.

Av is only half right, and Sea is right. Voting is controlling the way you're governed but doing so within the framework provided for making such changes. You're keeping "the system", but changing it's implementation. Which is sufficient to tell your elected leader he sucks like a hoover, and preferable to torches and pitchforks in most cases.

I'm getting ready to go vote around 5:30pm. I only hope that I don't have to wait several hours in line. . . but I will take reading material just in case. ;)

I had to wait just under an hour this morning. I just learned something interesting. George from next door was just telling me that Russian tv has been endlessly pimping Obama because they are afraid that McCain hates the Russians from the days of the cold war and his prison camp experiences in Vietnam. Very interesting.
