I think I'm just going to backup my Outlook, iTunes, and photos and reinstall XP (again).

When you format your drive, create 2 seperate partitions, one, (30 or 50 gig or whatever) for the C: drive, on which you install only[/] your operating system.
Then, on the second partion, the D: drive, which comprises all the rest of your space, you put your programs and all your data, photo's, music, ect.
When you have to reinstall your OS, you can format the C: drive and reinstall, without affecting all your other stuff. Much easier.

Clean Install
Just read through parts 1 and 2.
At the "creating partitions" step, you'll want to create 2 partitions, C: and D: Where C: is of sufficient size to install XP on, (and which will be the partition you select to have XP installed on in a later step), and D: is the remaining size of your drive, where you'll install everything else once windows is installed.
It's a huge pain in the ass though...it's basically formatting your machine and starting from scratch.
