Bah! He didn't answer the question. He just pointed out the vastly more important question!
And I have 1586 posts here.

I asked if it was true what some thought; that Kevin truly had nothing left to try, knew he would lose, and figured the RoD would buy the Land some time, hoping those who came later would find a way to defeat Foul. SRD answered that Kevin's flaw was that he considered himself a failure for not being able to win. Mhoram, otoh, learned something more important: "We are not required to save the world. We are required to stand up as truly as we can for what we love."
But did Kevin truly have nothing else to try that had the slightest chance of success? Or did he give up before trying all possible things? SRD didn't say.

True, true...
But the power was the same. That was my stance all along. Kevin acted out of despair...
oh good gracious...I don't know if I want to do this all over again...LOL!!!

That's what I always thought. (where is that thread?

Somebody needs to resurrect it.)

Yeah, he acted out of despair. My stance was that his despair came from the fact that he had no possibility of saving all that he loved. Or, at least it was
possible that that's where his despair came from. It could be that his despair came from weakness. But it was much more fun to argue about it.
But Mhoram is the best, because he was not capable of despair, even if he had no possibility of saving all that he loved. He
would hold to his love for it, even if there was nothing of value left
other than that love.
