States lived in (for at least 2 months):
Illinois (born)
Wisconsin (current abode)
Oklahoma (several summers)
Minnesota (one summer)
States visited (not just driving through):
Maine
Virginia
Florida
District of Columbia
Louisiana (I was too young to remember it though)
Missouri
Kentucky
Indiana
Michigan
South Dakota
Wyoming
Arizona
California
States driven through:
New Hampshire
Massachusetts
New York
Pennsylvania
Ohio
Tennessee
Georgia
Montana

So I've been to 31 states.
[Edit: The District of Columbia is not a state, so I've been to 30 states plus the District of Columbia. Oops!]
I've been to the following countries:
Canada (several provinces--5 I think)
Mexico
England
Belgium
Germany
Austria
Switzerland
Italy
France
Vatican City
I get around a lot.

If things turn out according to plan, I may be able to add Colorado (and possibly Nebraska and Iowa, depending on whether we drive or fly) to my list by August.

What do you count as "been to"? I've set foot in quite a few states via state line, at airports or driven through.
If that counts, here's my list:
Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Illinois, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Idaho, and Washington.
I've lived in Texas, Louisiana and New Hampshire.
The only foreign country I've been to is Mexico.

If my body was physically on the ground in the state, I count the state.
Otherwise I'd have to discount South Carolina, which my father obligingly hit the far western corner of on our way back from Florida, because it was the only state east of the Mississippi that I hadn't been in. (Please don't make me go back there!)

Once you do that, you gain a mystic fun ball power useable in the protectorates of Guam and Puerto Rico [which almost always, for some mysterious reason, usually involves massage by hotties or tattoos]

Now *there's* an incentive!
