Yeah...Babel was technically great, but the story was meh.

Finally saw this on ppv last night. Enjoyed it a lot. But I'm a sucker for post-apocolypse movies, so... I don't care, I don't apologize. I just like 'em!
Hell, I'll watch
Steel Dawn again and again!
So I enjoyed the action scenes. I like the mystery of wondering if God was protecting him, or if he was just crazy-lucky. (But it seems difficult to explain getting up from getting shot in the gut...) I like her smile when he said he liked her perfume. I like his humility and dedication to God, and the way he would give mini-sermons at certain moments. I like what Luci didn't - the fact that it took him 30 years to cross the continent. It was the path God told him to take.
How Can You Mend A Broken Heart was excellent.
And the fact that Denzel is among the best ever doesn't hurt.

This is nothing like Zardoz. Zardoz dealt with cloning, immortality, population control, etc.,
It is more like farenheit 451, but pointing this out is something of a spoiler.
It has a post apocalyptic and religious theme more akin to the never-filmed "A Canticle for Leibowitz."
It was filmed 45 miles from my village, in our county seat, Carizoso.
I love this movie. It is inspiring.

I am particularly fond of these narrative elements as well.
I wanted to watch it again as soon as it was over-- always the mark of a great flick!
