Okay, I am back home in boring Brisbane. I had a wonderful time, in company with brilliant people and seeing incredible sights. A great shame that I had to leave the country, but six weeks was rather long. Happy to be sleeping in my own bed.

I will update this thread about meeting Cleburne and his wife, as well as meeting Covenant Jr. I may have met Hierachy, but it was fleeting ;)

Looking forward to hearing all about it, Lore.
And glad to hear you are safely home.
Already love the pictures you have shared on Facebook.

Okay, here is the summary of the Lorefest.

On a bright Saturday morning I travelled north to a lovely city called St Albans, where Cleburne and his wife live. Cleburne was gracious to pick me up from the train station, and then to take me to a Roman Theatre. Many centuries ago, there was a city known as Verulamium, which was later burned down by the Celts. Today, the ruins are slowly being uncovered. After visiting the theatre, Cleburne and wife took me to a fantastic waffle house (butterscotch, pecan nuts and cream make an excellent combination). We then headed to the Cathedral, and visited the remains of a fort and wall. The day finished with a lovely Indian meal, and it was with much sadness that I had to depart. The company was excellent, and they make an excellent couple. I really enjoyed the day also because of their knowledge of the area. Thank you Cleburne and Queen of Spain.

A few days later, I had an encounter wth Covenant Jr. Meeting him at Kings Cross station, we then headed to the Underground to get to Oxford Circus. Over a coffee, we chatted about the universe's deepest mysteries - why know has yet met Hierachy or Murrin, and Revan's piking. Sensing we had stayed too long at Cafe Nero, we then ventured into the heart of London - Trafalgar Square, where we had a nice drink in a pub followed by a walk to Big Ben. There was much mockery of the relative heights of the statues at Trafalgar, but the greatest mockery was to come. Esconced in a book store, we proceeded to criticise the majority of fantasy literature. We came to the conclusion that most fantasy is rubbish, and that Elves and Dwarves are pants. At that point we realised that we were hungry . . . And we chose possibly the worst Indian restaurant to dine in. I then escorted Covenant Jr back to Kings Cross, and saw him depart, a tear in my eye (or soot). As always, Cov makes great company. He is extremely funny and intelligent, and I am honoured that he is a friend of mine.

The last week was indeed my best week in the UK. Seeing friends is always good.

The pub came at the end, you confused berk!

I think it's maybe a little harsh calling that restaurant the worst. It may have had the worst service, but the food managed to achieve mediocrity. :P

We stood in that book shop for ages, just bitching about generic fantasy and poor writing while customers silently edged around us.
