How old was Roger at the beginning of TWL? When did Linden adopt him?

Linden adopted Jeremiah, not Roger.

No worries. I don't know a specific timeline. Jeremiah had surgery on his hand shortly after Linden returned to the real world. I don't remember how long after that he was adopted. She certainly had him for many years prior to the events of ROTE, perhaps as many as 8. Anyone can step in with specifics from the text.

My impression was that Roger was left to be raised by his grandparents, and then by the cult. What the cult taught Roger is anyone's guess.

My impression was that Roger was left to be raised by his grandparents, and then by the cult. What the cult taught Roger is anyone's guess.
There's a section in TWL where Covenant talks about Joan leaving Roger with her parents. I'm trying to remember what else we're told about his upbringing.

We are told roughly what his upbringing was at the start of RotE. Lived with his Grandparents after the Community of Retribution, Ward of the state, High school, Community college, butchers boy, inheritor of TC's estate, victim, death, life in the land, uncertain future...
Personally I'd like to see a Darth Vader-type scene just before Kasstensen cremates him. IMHO, that won't happen, LF will kill him for failing to retrieve TC's (LA's) ring. Probably in front of LA, TC and the rest of the group.

Nice speculating. I think Roger will have his mother's white gold and try to take on LF himself.

In the prolog of
Runes we learn that it took Linden about two years to adopt Jeremiah out of the county foster care system after he and his two siblings were taken from the mother who brought them into the Community of Retribution. Thus, Linden has had Jeremiah for approximately eight years, or slightly more than half of his young life.
