What a strange cover. :?
Strange indeed! The same artwork was used for Conrad's Fate!

What's up with that? It seems strange that they would go to all the trouble to make a leather bound, signed and numbered edition of Donaldson's book and then they don't give it original artwork.

Has anyone received their copy yet?

SRD stopped taking questions a while back so he wasn't being distracted from his writing.

This is bringing back to me some memories that do not seem to be tying up with the listd of SRD's published works as I remember them. I am sure I remember that the first UK publication of 'Daughter of Regals and Other Tales' started with the D O R novella, and then continued with a series if short stories which ended with 'Ser Visals Tale'. I remember 'Reave the Just' as a story - but can't for the life of me remember what other short storys were published with it (odd since I seem to be able to remember all the D O R stories virtually in order). Can anyone post a list of these stories (it can't have been published on it's own can it?)

From my US version of Reave the Just and Other Tales:

"Reave the Just"
"The Djinn Who Watches Over the Accursed"
"The Killing Stroke"
"The Kings of Tarshish Shall Bring Gifts"
"Penance"
"The Woman Who Loved Pigs"
"What Makes Us Human"
"By Any Other Name"

I should re-read these. It's been far too long...

Thanks Ali - Wow, where did these go from my memory. The names are vaguely familiar (and I mean vaguely) and thats where it ends. It's frightening is that (exept that it means that oneday maybe I'll get to read the 1st Chrons again as if for the first time! :) .

Reave the Just has also been in other anthologies like 'After the King'. That could be why you can't remember the others.

Could be Orlion (I know 'After the King' though and it was not there that I came across the story).
I just have this idea that Reave the Just apeared first in a Donaldson anthology (in the UK at least) that was not entitled R T J, but had a different Donaldson short as its title. I seem to remember that the book was re-published under the new title some years later. Most likely I am barking up the wrong street altogether (or conceivably just barking :) ) and am hoplessly mixing up the whole thing.

Whatever the case Ali's post has convinced me that I must get hold of a copy of R T J asap to fill in the gaps in my Donaqldson short story recall!

Just reading the titles makes me remember how much I like these stories. I need to revisit them as well.

Well, I have this book out of the library right now, and just made a pitch to a friend in my book club to try to get these gals to read a couple of stories out of it & discuss!

Maybe could be useful as a "gateway" book? :D People who are unacquainted with the author's work COULD think "oh, this guy has a 'best of' collection printed."

We'll see if that goes anywhere, though.
