Linden has a strong Bostonian accent. But, I could deal with all of that. What pisses me off and makes me want to grab a rifle and climb a bell tower is that the Giants all sound Irish. That's right! He uses an Irish accent with reading a Giant's dialogue.

SRD has been fucked by his publisher once again. What a travesty! I won't say "don't buy this audio version" since to do so would hurt SRD. But, consider yourself warned: the audio version sucks!
Wow, I didn't think there was any professional reader worse than Scott Brick.
Opinions differ. Scott Brick is my fav reader ever. Although I've only heard about 5-6 others. I love his reading style and flow.
I would rather listen to Ben Stein than Scott Brick.

I'm the opposite. The Giants Irish Accent doesn't really bother me at all, but, the Haruchai are horrid, they're supposed to flat voiced and passionless, yet, they're voiced as exuberant and squeaky voiced.

The Harrow really suffered too, IMHO. I really, really, enjoyed Scott Brick's "slick Snake-oil salesman" voice for the Harrow, what we get in the AATE Audio Book doesn't compare.

I must say, though, one high point of the AATE Audiobook is the Ardent, I think he is extremely well realized.

TheWormoftheWorld'sEnd, interesting that you are so down on Scott Brick's reading, I think he's awesome in both the 5 Covenant Books of his I have, as well as the Frankenstein book I ahve of his. I've seen many posters glow about Scott's reading of the Covenant Books, I don't believe I've seen anyone other than you who expressed a dislike for him.

Jasprer, I too don't have time to read paper books much, so, almost all my "reading" is Audio Books on my commute to work

I agree, and this is the the only positive remark I can give this audio version. ;)

Agreed, I'd have to strain to give it any other props

As far as the Audio version of this book goes.....Are you kidding me? This is the final book of one of the greatest series in all of Fantasy and rather than continue on with Scott Brick who did a brilliant job as the audio Reader, they switch to this other guy who has no insight whatsoever into the books or their characters. He makes the Haruchai sound like robots because he is clueless as to who they are. His inflections convey nearly no emotion at all and when they do, he gets it all wrong!

If you are a fan of the Covenant series, read the book if you can because this audio attempt has about as much art to it as an infomercial. Very disappointing. And to think; this is the only way some people will ever be able to hear the conclusion to this entire series of 9 books is damn near tragic.

Pssssst....Against All Things Ending is only the Penultimate Book of 10. The final book, #10 of 10 is not due out for a couple of years yet. This Third and Final Trilogy, is actually a Quadrilogy

Title of the Last Book is :

The Last Dark

Or tetralogy.
