Looks like copies are available from Amazon.co.uk for £8.99. Only one track listed called Wine and Music, don't remember there being much of either in the Chronicles.

Two songs have always run through my mind since the first time reading TCTC.

A general one, sort of the theme song of the Giants, is '39 by Queen. Which I didn't intend to quote entirely, but the whole song has the feeling of the Unhomed, even when the words don't match:

In the year of '39 assembled here the volunteers
In the day when lands were few
Here the ship sailed out into the blue and sunny morn
The sweetest sight ever seen

And the night followed day, and the story tellers say
That the score brave souls inside
For many a lonely day sailed across the milky seas
Ne'r looked back, never feared, never cried

[chorus]
Don't you hear my call, though you're many years away
Don't you hear me calling you
Write your letters in the sand for the day I take your hand
In the land that our grandchildren knew

In the year of '39 came a ship in from the blue
The volunteers came home that day
And they bring good news of a world so newly born
Though their hearts so heavily weigh

For the Earth is old and gray, little darling we'll away
But my love this cannot be
For so many years have gone, though I'm older but a year
Your mother's eyes, from your eyes, cry to me

[chorus entirely, then}
Don't you hear my call, though you're many years away
Don't you hear me calling you
All your letters in the sand cannot heal me like your hand
For my life, still ahead, pity me

And when Elena and Tommy (as he's known to his friends) find the Earthblood, I always hear a Cat Stevens song whose title eludes me right this second. Maybe "I'm On My Way":

And if I make it to the waterside
Will I even find me a boat or so
And if I make it to the waterside
I'll be sure to write you a note or something

Maybe I was getting to know TCTC at the same time I was getting to know Cat. Anyway, that little excerpt doesn't do justice to the song. But now that I think about it, another part of the song says:

Sitting on my own not by myself
Everybody's here with me
I don't need to touch your face to know
And I don't need to use my eyes to see

That certainly could mean the way everybody in the 1st Chronicles, and Linden in the 2nd, could sense everything.

But the next time they do a movie with Samson in it, yet another excerpt says:

Oh I'm on my way, I know I am
Somewhere not so far from here
All I know is all I feel right now
I feel the power growing in my hair

What about this for The Wounded Land... background to Covenant's vision in Revelstone and also for those Clave members which though they were doing the right thing.

THIS ISN'T WHAT WE MEANT by Savatage

we dared to ask for more
but that was long before
the nights began to burn
you would have thought we'd
learned you can't make promises
all based upon tomorrow
happiness, security
are words we only borrow

for is this the answer to our prayers
is this what god has sent

please understand this isn't what we meant

the future couldn't last
we've nailed it to the past
with every word a trap
that no one can take

back from all the architects
who find their towers leaning
and every prayer we pray at night
has somehow lost it's meaning

for is this the answer to our prayers
is this what god has sent

please understand this isn't what we meant

a long time ago
when the world was pretty
standing right here
in a different city

they're not coming back anymore
they're not coming back any...

is this the answer to our prayers
is this what god has sent
please understand this isn't what we meant

I found the CD in amazon.co.uk, but it was one of those special order things, which effectively means it'll never arrive...

Would this be the one?

Sounds like it'll be good. And remember, this is apparently a "concept album", so it's very possible there is only one track that lasts the entire length of the album (Jethro Tull's "Thick as a Brick parts 1 - infinity", anyone?)

It's odd, but ever since I heard it, I have thought that Mansun's "The Chad Who Loved Me" would be superb as the music for the opening title sequence in a movie of LFB. (it's the opening track on "Attack of the Grey Lantern", available from Amazon at www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000 ... 51-2147015 )

I sort of envisaged the opening scene as an aerial view, flying over mid-western countryside. The first minute or so of the song are beautiful strings, lush and rich, but with a subtle undertone of darkness to come. Then there are brief inset screen-flashes (think the flashback clips from the start of "The Crow") to clips from TC's past, such as his wedding day, Joan taming horses, him sitting in the shed writing his book, the book's first day in the shops, then Joan seeing his wound and taking him to the hospital.
At this point, the vocals will come in.
"All comes crashing down, your desparate icon"
Perfect for TC! The screen-flashes continue, taking us through TC's time in the leprosarium, through to the current day; and then the aerial shot finally closes in on a small mid-west town, to the main street, and to the back of an unremarkable figure walking defiantly down the road, subconsciously shying away from the people around him...

... and so it begins ...

I think Cannibal Corpse's 'She was asking for it' would suit the rape of Lena scene perfectly, anyone who knows the song would know, the riff at the start could be in time with the pelvic thrusts. And 'Split wide open' by the same band for the Coercri massacre by Kinslaughterer would be quite fitting.

F&F- the CD is called Europop . It's mostly techno music, but it really does suit the chapter.

Wow! a Covenant concept album! We wants! Thanks for the track list Sylvanus. I'll try to download a preview.

There are a few songs tat I don't really think would really fit into a Covenant soundtrack, but ...

"Save Yourself" by Stabbing Westward

" I cannot save you
I can't even save myself"

always makes me think of TC, especially in the first book.

Also the chorus to "Spoon" by Dave Mathews

"Maybe I'm crazy
but laughing out loud
makes the pain pass by."

reminds me of Foamfollower.

Just my $0.02 :)

i was watching pearl jams 'touring band 2000'dvd the other night and the live version of NOTHING AS IT SEEMS seems to fit well.

awsome tune with great cryptic lyrics, quite atomospheric/haunting....

NOTHING AS IT SEEMS-pearl jam.

it don't feel like home...
He's a little out...
And all these words elope...
Is nothing like your poem...

Putting in...inputting in...
Don't feel like methadone...
that scratching voice all alone...
Is nothing like your baritone...

It's nothing as it seems
all that he needs...is home.....
and all that he sees
Is nothing he concedes...his home...

One uninvited chromosome.......
A blanket like the ozone.....

It's nothing as it seems
All that he needs...is home...
and all that he free's
Is nothing he believes....

Saving up a sunny day
Something maybe two-tone
Anything of his own,
A chip off the cornerstone
Who's kidding rainy day
A one way ticket headstone.......
an Occupations overthrown
A whisper through a megaphone......

It's nothing as it seems
all that he needs...is home.....
and that he breaths
Is nothing he believes...its home....
And all that he frees
A little bittersweet...it's home
It's nothing as it seems
The little that you see...is home...................................

For a change how about Al Stewart

"And I should know by now
I should know by now
I hear them call it out all around
Oh, they go
Theres nothing to believe in
hear them
Just daydreams, decieving,
they'll just get you down"

I still think that Voodoo by Godsmack would b a prefect intro 4 a movie version of The Wounded Land (tho u really do have 2 hear the song) I always imagine TC singing this 2 Marid, or Linden:
I'm not the one who's so far away
When I feel the snake bite into my veins
Never did I wanna be here again
And I don't remember why I came

Candles raise my desire
Why I'm so far away
No more meaning to my life
No more reason to stay

Freezin' feelin',
breathe in - breathe in
I'm coming back again

I'm not the one who's so far away
When I feel the snake bite into my veins
Never did I wanna be here again
And I don't remember why I came

Hazing clouds rain on my head
Empty thoughts fill my ears
Find my shade by the moon light
Why my thoughts aren't so clear

Demons dreamin'
Breathe in - breathe in
I'm coming back again

I'm not the one who's so far away
When I feel the snake bite into my veins
Never did I wanna be here again
And I don't remember why I came

I'm not the one who's so far away
When I feel the snake bite into my veins
Never did I wanna be here again
And I don't remember why I came

Voodoo, voodoo, voodoo

I'm not the one who's so far away
When I feel the snake bite into my veins
Never did I wanna be here again
And I don't remember why I came

I'm not the one who's so far away
When I feel the snake bite into my veins
Never did I wanna be here again
And I don't remember why I came

Voodoo, voodoo, voodoo, voodoo
Voodoo, voodoo, voodoo, voodoo

I'm not the one who's so far away
When I feel the snake bite into my veins
Never did I wanna be here again
And I don't remember why I came

Voodoo, voodoo, voodoo, voodoo...

I'm not the one who's so far away...

Voodoo, voodoo, voodoo, voodoo

I'm not the one who's so far away...

ha. me, too.

hmm. power addiction vs. heroin addiction.

dang, that song works on so many levels. change "by the moonlight" to "from the sunbane." voodoo as blood magic... the whole song fits as a great intro (with the rain and all) and foreshadowing (thoughts aren't so clear as venom delirium... demons as ravers). even the video had kind of a wounded land feel to it.
