However, maybe that means that you will consent to have the thread return to your forum? You frequently state your desire for GenDisc to garner more entries, the better to compete with Mallory, Tank, et al for post-count primacy. Here is a thread that seems to be drawing many posts by virtue of its very existence. Claim it for your forum!

I honestly don't care. Menolly, if you want to move it back, go ahead.

If it's moved back to GenDisc, I will probably lock it proactively, and send LZ a note to that effect. I got a couple of pms from unhappy Watchers when it was there before.

Obviously, the answer is "yes" as I would find a way to use such a thread as a teaching tool on Watch etiquette.

Anyway...

I PMd LZ expressing my desire to delete this thread, but that I will not do so without his permission. The PM has been read with no response from him, either privately to me or in this thread. In another thread it sounds as if aliantha is accepting of having it moved back to Gen Dis, where "joke" threads have a place.

Harbinger and SD make some good points in that the original post is cohesive and well written, and has precedence in the literary world, unlike another thread which was started here as a reaction to this one. I have handled the newer thread as I believe its intent warranted.

Now, since LZ seems to have lost interest in this thread by not commenting one way or the other on its move or my request to delete it, the question becomes what to do with it. In the meantime, this thread will be locked. Should aliantha welcome it back to Gen Dis she may PM me or contact me in other ways letting me know I can move it back to to her forum. Once there, she may unlock it as she sees fit.

I admit it!! I did it ... sometimes recommendations inspire me!! But I certainly agree to the LOCK ... and defer to Ali's superior modship!!

My only thoughts are:

Free, open, general chat on any topic.

So it definitely belongs here, and not The Galley, since I hope no one is going to use it as an actual recipe. Or at least use black pepper...


The only thing I think may apply to this thread from the Rules and Guidelines is:

Don't make posts that are inflammatory just to wind people up.

But like Men said, since LZ hasn't posted anything else, and neither is anyone else, I'm fine to lock. Let us know if anyone wants us to unlock it.
