Actually it was Terry Wogan on the breakfast show who used to sing those words.
I am playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order!

no idea who she is...

Paul McCartney's, "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey"

Misheard Lyrics:

Admiral Halsey horrified me
He had to have a pill or he couldn't go to sea
I had another toke and I had a cup of tea and a butterfly (A Butterfly?)
The butterfly was horrid, so I put it in the pie.

Original Lyrics:

Admiral Halsey notified me
He had to have a berth or he couldn't get to sea
I had another look and I had a cup of tea and butter pie. (Butter pie?)
The butter wouldn't melt so I put it in the pie.

A number of years ago there was a popular chorus we sang in church that went,

"He is exalted, the King is exalted on high, I will praise Him..."

Friends of ours were on a road trip with their kids and one of them starts singing,

"He is insulted, the King is insulted..."

They're trying not to die laughing, but the next oldest kid says knowingly, "That's not how it goes. It's:

"He is exhausted, the King is exhausted..."

 lovely samples) Remembered one today on hearing that song again... Teo Torriate by Queen.

In the quiet of the night let our candle always burn
Let us never lose the lessons we have learned

Certainly, I didn't hear it all at first

In the quiet of the night let our kettle always burn
A role-player, beware

Just seen a comment on YouTube

"Sh--- it's called "Thunderhorse"? And here I am googling "Fuck a Horse" for the past 2 hours...."

Cool new additions) And, Sarge, you already posted that Begin the Begin mishearing on the first page, as well as the AC/DC one - though I have to admit they're good and may be repeated)

Misheard:
"Well the "G" men, "T" men, revenuers, too
Searchin' for the place where THE NATIVES brew."

Real lyrics, almost as nutty, actually:
"Well the "G" men, "T" men, revenuers, too
Searchin' for the place where he made his brew"
"People without hope not only don't write novels, but what is more to the point, they don't read them.
They don't take long looks at anything, because they lack the courage.
The way to despair is to refuse to have any kind of experience, and the novel, of course, is a way to have experience."
-Flannery O'Connor

"In spite of much that militates against quietness there are people who still read books. They are the people who keep me going."
-Elisabeth Elliot, Preface, "A Chance to Die: The Life and Legacy of Amy Carmichael"

I misheard this in the car on the way home:

"Just give me Buddha Pie"

My daughter, eyes rolling, informed me that it is actually:

"Just give me one more night"
Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a great battle. -Philo of Alexandria
