Certainly the main thing is the actual wish to say something, the currency suggestion is just supposed to help and give extra motivation, it may do better and not likely to do worse. And it's just fun.

As for the technical part - I think nobody suggests doing this immediately.

From how soon the new store items get uploaded, this may well be done when kw is long on phpbb5 and running on nanocomputers)

Despite my quest for the white gold ring, and my WGD count, I have always maintained when teased about the futility of attaining such that it is the journey towards the goal that matters, rather than the goal itself. I am on the Watch because I enjoy y'all's company; extra incentives really isn't necessary for this place to be what it is. Once members feel at home, they will return.

I don't know if anyone ever suggested it, but I think it should be easily possible to add a block to the forum layout to contain a small advert or two. You can likely make that block hidden to logged in users as well. I see the traffik on this site is largely unregistered users. It could pay for the site upkeep without affecting the regulars, though a mild advert or two is not so bad either way.

We tried it for a while, or Vain did...can't remember what came of it really.

Anyway, money isn't the problem. Time and real life are the problem. And Vain. Vain is the problem.

Well, I honestly spent some of my earlier years in the tank cuz, I dunno why, I guess cuz I hadn't reread some of the chronicles and felt even more out of my depth in TCTC discussion than in the tank or the close.

Now that I've posted there a little more in the last year, at the times when the discussions do get somewhat active, I find it really interesting, and it's also neat when someone links to an older topic and I get to see some of the longer and more involved discussions that took place.

So even if there isn't a large quantity of additional posting in those forums, I think it's a really nice resource. Hopefulyl at some point I'll reread the second chronicles, TRotE and FR, and buy and read AATE and then get into t he last chronicles discussion.

Throw "emotional energy" in there too... one of the things that slows down my re-read.

And honestly... my "standard" for a post I make on something as serious and multi-layered as the Chrons is usually higher...
...so I regularly go, "oh darn, I don't have the time to think out a careful post for the TCTC forums and cross-reference the relevant chapters in the books, even though it's way interesting; I'll go look around in another sub-forum."
(of course, reliable sources have also told me that with regards to my "standards," I should really just chill.)

Of course that kind of reward is great) And I think the main thing is just that you said what you felt like saying and thought was right. People may admire silently)

Though, certainly, the responses are very, very pleasant to see.

But why not more? If you come to a shop to buy something, of course you're mainly interested in the thing you came for, but if the people there are polite and not throwing that thing at you, it's definitely a plus, and if they have some presents for you, isn't that even better?

i promise not to flood the TC forums regardless of the rewards. lol

i imagine we will lose a few when the Chrons are complete.

and some here will come and go. (i miss Lurch!)

but i hope that we continue the boards as i have gained many friends here.

and i hope we continue our get togethers now and again. i miss the people i met last year around this time. i miss them a lot.

Y'know, I was feeling really cranky a few weeks ago, and I was chalking it up to not taking a vacation in May/June this year. But now that y'all mention it, I think my real problem might have been that we didn't have a June 'fest this year.

In retrospect, currency does seem a rather silly way to encourage participation. And I would certainly not wish the forum to gain frivolous participation just so people can get items. *shrug* Just wish for more interest in those areas.

The difference between the Yuku forum I referred to and this forum is that those books had a major motion picture made, and the high point for that forum was in the wake of the films. As much as I would love great films to be made from the Chrons (and they certainly could do it) I would hate to think of what it would do to this forum!!
