I've always turned my phone to landscape for browsing, so no layout issues, just scale.

I got the app to download, but it apparently doesn't recognize kevinswatch.com.

What DLB said -- it's kevinswatch.ihugny.com.

8-1/2 years here, and I would have sworn the URL was "ihungry".

"ihugny". Got it now.

Heh, you're not currently hungry by any chance are you, Cail?

But hm, that's interesting. So, on an iPhone you all weren't able to view the forums normally, without the software mentioned earlier? Since I managed to access the forum just fine yesterday, on my Android. Or was that just part of a forum upgrade that you've done, where the iPhone now needs the app in order to get the full functionality of the forums?

Also, your avatar seems to be a bit un-Vain-like, Vain! Or don't tell me; that's how they planned on having it (him?) in the now-cancelled movie! (Alternatively, you chose that avatar because you actually liked it, not due to any kind of resemblance with Vain from TCoTC, heh)

It's not that you couldn't get to the Watch on a browser before -- it's that the app makes it a little more iPhone-friendly. :)

An app or decent reflow-capable browser for Windows Phone wouldn't come amiss either...

Any progress on this? Using Chrome on an iPad, and browsing is great, but so far posting causes fatal errors.

Could well be the dreaded 406 error...some update on the hosts side has made it so that you can't post "non-standard" characters, which may or may not include Apple's "" marks...

Yeah I found and still find that. I use iPhone mostly or my Mac laptop..

I have https://pteo.paranoiaworks.mobi/diacriticsremover/

open in a page permanently now. I also found if I am in a hurry not using punctuation at all helps .. if I cant be bothered or dont have time to cut and paste.

So thats my work around fwiw 😉

I think the main problem with getting a new platform would be migrating the current boards to the updated site. I know I wouldn't want to get bogged down in migrating The Galley, but I wouldn't want to lose all of those pages, either. I couldn't imagine tackling the chrons discussions, let alone Gen Dis.

I absolutely do not want anyone to boil the ocean....was just hoping for an app or quick local setting change that might make it possible to use the iPad instead of the clunky desktop PC...

The Watch sure didn't like my iPad's curly quotes when I tried to post from it a couple of weeks ago. :( Our firm has locked down intarwebz access so tightly that I'm not able to get to the Watch from work any other way -- it's either the iPad or I drag my heavy-duty Asus laptop in with me every day, which I would prefer not to do because it's *really* heavy.

That diacritics remover should still do the job for you. Just a pain.

I'll have to give it a shot from Chrome on the iPad and see if that has the intended effect.

Yay!

I no longer need to use the diacritics remover to post with my iPad. Since that’s what I use to browse here 90% of the time, it should make posting easier. :D

Just about all I ever use is my phone, which is about the cheapest Android I can find. I've only had that problem several times, and not at all in several months.
