I thought of this, this morning when I was praying. Years ago I would begin our church services (a tiny, old, Baptist church, white walls, wood pews) by playing my antique Gibson guitar and singing some hymns and choruses. One morning, it had been particularly dismal, cold, damp, and gray for days on end. I was leading the song "Amazing Grace." I had closed my eyes for the last verse, my favorite:
When we've been there ten thousand years
Bright-shining as the sun
Just as I sang the line above, it was like light came on through my closed eyelids. I opened my eyes in surprise and saw that the bespoke sun was gloriously streaming through the stained glass. It had literally leapt from the overcast at exactly the right moment, and it stayed sunny for days.
