OK...my last experiment got nipped in the bud because of Facebook rules I didn't know. [How the FUCK can making friends have rules imposed by anyone who isn't one of the people involved?] so I aborted it. [though it had some fun effects...I still get a fair amount of stuff in my feed from "Friends" that I can't even imagine how I got connected to.]
ANYWAY: I'm going to do another one. I have reasons that I won't reveal...but several I will...people on the Watch are generally smart fuckers, they're all around the world, and I'm bored. There are others, too...but just boring reasons.
ANYWAY: I'm gonna be sending semi-blind requests to Watchers. [I THINK they will mostly be watchers...I'm guessing, cuz I don't know lots of folks real names]
FEEL COMPLETELY FREE to ignore or deny, I won't know [probably] or care [probably]
One last minor thing: I THINK Rho is Robert...if you walk out of your LA headquarters, head north a bit to Wilshire, then [don't walk this part, it's a bit of a way] head west, go right on San Vicente for a little, you could wave at the apartment I lived in during the most...hmmm...energetic/intense years of my life.
edited to add: right by Pacific Design buildings. Even have a poem that includes those buildings.

I accepted someone's request today, and since all 5 shared connections were Watchers...
And for what it's worth, if I ever unfriend someone, it's not personal (unless you know it's personal, and then it may be, but I think that's only ever worked the other way for me. but seriously, if we weren't even really friends in high school, don't expect me to hold your hand when you debate me on my page. just saying). I just believe in keeping my friends limited to people who either communicate with me regularly (at least once in two years is my current guideline) or generally amuse me.
If you do get dropped and that bothers you (why?), just send me another request. I'm operating under the assumption that the dropped party doesn't care.

Ha. I'm in the habit of keeping my real name
very separate from my forum name, but I suspect I got a friend request from a Watcher. All the mutual friends are Watchers. For the record, I'm friends with only a very few Watchers. For whatever reason.

Yeah, Av is definitely too hip for Facebook.

This explains why I got messages from two Watchers yesterday asking me if I knew who you were.

Might happen again today. It takes FOREVER to sort through the suggestions, finding the ones who have "mutual friends" that are all [or mostly] watchers.
Funny though...there are at least 2 people [so far] that are Watchers, that I have at least one OTHER mutual friend totally unrelated to the Watch. [for example, one Watcher who lives on a completely different continent is friends with a guy that I went to High School with, in a tiny town in the boonies.]
Which became, when I noticed it, one of the [boring for most] reasons I started this second experiment.

Absolutely Av. For some reason it doesn't seem to 'agree' with my laptop, and besides, a friend of mine started to keep a record of all his 'friend requests' [many of which turned out
not to have been instigated by the friend in question] and other stuff, and gave me a low-down on how fb is used to generate all kinds of connections [past and present] which are then further used to send all kinds of crap to your computer [and quite possibly for even more sinister purpouses. I avoid it like the plague.

A hipster doesn't draw attention to the fact that he is a hipster. Fail.

BTW, I finally got around to starting a "street team" for my books on Facebook. You have to ask to join, but I haven't turned anybody down yet.

Here's the link:

Ideally, members would read my books and post reviews of them at Amazon. But I'm not making that a requirement.

that is me. let me know who you are. I limit my fb to people I actually know. I have a nice mix. my everyday friends, people from home (new Hampshire), people from the Watch, work people and some artists I have met through the years.
I am posting holiday songs in groups of five. a tradition for me. but work sucks so it hasn't been an everyday thing.

My Norwegian contact brainwashed me into creating a Basefuuk account after having inactivated my old one some 8-9 years back.

You can find me via ali and Io's friend lists or by pm'ing. I don't fancy blogging and hate the "like" function with passion (a culture of rush that discourages meaningful socializing), and, apart from the chat app, use it mainly for following my re-enactment groups.

I wondered if that was you. The surname was correct but I didn't recognise the forename. I "friended" you anyway.
