Ah yes... Godzilla vs. Bambi.... and also Bambi's Revenge.

I got to see them on the big screen once at a film society in Ann Arbor, along with several reels of Star Trek bloopers. That was a fine evening.
I always liked it when Godzilla and RodAN and King Ghidra would rumble!

Gamera. If it were possible, I would have ascended to be him, but, alas, there's no dAN in Gamera.

Gamera is pretty cool. If Godzilla was Coke, Gamera would be Pepsi.

If I'm remembering correctly didn't the green gargantuan grab people and chew them up and spit out their clothes? Kinda sickening.

Only if you try to put them on before washing them. BTW, I met Pat once; he's a friend of my uncles. Interesting character.

You know, that Godzilla was one hell of an actor. His debut in '55 was incredible. He really made a name for himself in the business, but he was always daunted by the success of King Kong, even though Kong was before Zilla's time. It's a shame they decided to film the Godzilla vs. King Kong movie, as Kong was a washed up has-been who had pretty much drank his fortune. I mean, I can understand Kong making one last stab at getting back in the industry. And it did land him the Abominable Snowman gig in Rudolf. I sometimes wonder what it was like to have his entire fur coat bleached white; but it couldn't be any worse than all that weight I had to lose to play my role in JP III. Anyway, I think Godzilla was really disappointed when he worked with Kong. I dunno, but I get the impression that Zilla thought Kong was more...professional. But Zilla still fought for that alternate ending, so that the rest of the world wouldn't think Kong was washed up. Man, Zilla really had class....if it were be, I would have just fried, I mean fired Kong on the spot and hired Gamera instead. And Gamera was working cheap back then; not like now since he landed that Donatello role. A lifetime achievement award and all the pizza he can eat; what a gig!

I suppose you are right dAN. KK's short revival in 1976 was kind nice to see too. That there was a terrible sequel to that film is an example of what you've already stated. It is also terrific news that Peter Jackson of LOTR fame has begun working on an all new KK film. Fortunately he's taking the big guy back to his roots in the 1920's .

Bambi's Revenge:
the direct sequel to Godzilla vs. Bambi -- it opens with the fawn squished flat under the big green foot, then one of his little legs starts moving around, finds a bomb, he blows off Godzilla's leg, Godzilla hops off, then the fawn grazes in the meadow to happy music again...

As long as he can keep the damn dirty ape sober, it ought to be a blockbuster. Of course, Godzilla can kick back the sauce pretty good, too. Just read Top Ten by Alan Moore; you'll see what I mean....

I hope you do. I'm getting through the Coramonde book slowly, but I did get the office rearranged, though the doorway is still in the same place.
