I must say that I really enjoyed The Mirror of Her dreams. It was the first SRD book that I had actually bought myself (my brother had the 1st and 2nd Chrons). It was nice to be with SRD main characters that weren't quite as tormented as those in the Chrons. I liked the world he created and the main and secondary characters. It lost something for me when, in the second book, they left the environs of the castle. I don't think that SRD had developed the world well enough for me to be able to get a satisfying sense of it (and there was no map). I also didn't really like the zipping around from place to place that went on in the second book.
Still, probably my favourite SRD books after the 1st and 2nd Chronicles.

SRD says it in his intro...it's a fairy tale for adults. I like it, but the Gap is by far his best work.

The Gap series was great. But creepy enough that I've never been able to bring myself to re-read it.

Now, this is gonna sound weird, but....I liked how it was all about sex
Both Covenant and the Gap don't deal much with sexuality except in the most toxic of ways. Mordant had sex, sexuality, and sexual politics as a central theme. As this is something that interests me- speaking academically, mind you- it's made for some fascinating re-reading.

Same here, MsMary. The Gap books are the only SD books not on my kindle. I loved Mordant's need. Read it almost as many times as I've read the Chronicles.

Haha!
Yes, SRD's sex scenes were highly entertaining.
And the way that Eremis met his final demise was hilarious...haha...
