fell at work today. I was in the knife room and somehow tripped, then tried to grab the unstable podium. I tumbled backwards, striking my head against a metal cage.

lying on the ground bleeding, I first located my glasses, then got up stumbled into the kitchen where the inmates stood in horror. the blood was flowing from the back of my head and because of my uniform, pooling at the front of my shirt. my hand was also covered in blood, from reaching back to confirm I was bleeding. I could feel the warmth of the blood pooling at my neck.

they inmates got me a chair and a wet towel, as I called in for an emergency response on my radio. the building showed up with a full compliment of officers. they had to call for medical. I thought I had called for the medical response, but may have failed to key my radio for that part.

went to medical, they bandaged me up, took my statement. I was by myself since my C/O called in. so I had locked up two (out four) sets of keys. made sure someone collected the tools, as the inmates were sent to their cells. even bleeding out I retained correctional awareness. Smile

I was then taken to the hospital by state van, and spent the next five or so hours their. the did bloodwork, cat scan, x-rays. gave me an IV, gave me pain meds in that IV and found out I did not need staples or stitches. I lucked out in that regard. but I ended up with a concussion.

my head hurts at the point of impact, I have a raging headache. I just showered after sleeping all day. had to wash out all the dried blood.

I'll miss inservice this week. so no shooting this week. Sad I'll have to see a doctor that the state mandates. and likely I should drug tested.

- posted yesterday on general discuss.

I wasn't drug tested, even though for a bakers' dozen years I have been told all accidents at work require it. wasn't worried, I was just hoping they did it at work so I get some time away from the unit while being paid. :)

I have always been my head's own worst enemy.

I can't recall any serious head injuries but I've been bonking my poor old noggin on anything available for 55 years now! lol!!!
you know, getting into cars BONK, freezer door open BONK, kitchen cabinet door open BONK, raising up too quickly under desk BONK, thinking there was more cushioning than there was between my head and the wainscoting on the wall BONK, etc etc etc. heh.

i did get into a fight when i was younger and drunk and had a guy jump on me and start pounding me in the back of the head with his fist and then...once, when an old bf was very drunk he grabbed me by the hair of the head and slammed me, face first, into the door jamb (corner of it) which i hit with my forehead and got 2 black eyes from. i guess that one was pretty serious but no blood or stitches. just black eyes. ugh. forgot about that one. (yeah booze has not been kind to me! lol!!)

it's anybody's guess if any of that had any affect on my brain.
i am, as my father was fond of telling me, very hard-headed. lol!!! :D

Holy crap. That sounds like the last room one would want to fall in. Next time, if you want to post in a thread like this, just make something up. We all are pretty much sure that every Watcher is brain-damaged, so no-one will suspect a lie anyway.

Hope you get better soon.

Um..I was once kicked in the head by an albino ostrich that had a cinder block roped to its foot. First the bird's hefty left hoof struck me in the right temple and then the cinder block nailed me in the back of my already lopsided cranium. At least that's what the nurse told me when I woke up in the hospital. Of course she might have been lying to me but I don't know of any nurses that are liars. Or do I?

 Why, quite possible :)

I've missed out on all the chances to get actual injuries, at least in the literal sense. Even when some weird creatures came to take out my brain and replace it with some unknown substance, all that happened - they found out there was already some even more unknown substance there, so they retreated.

the catscan proved no injury.

the knives are locked in a separate box, the metal cage that holds spices etc proved the bastard.

the look of panic on the inmates faces was rather precious. and the look of shock on the officer's faces as they arrived was also odd for me.

See that? They *do* care about you! (At least insofar as if you've gone to the hospital, lunch will probably be late. )

1: I was swimming in a pool once doing backstroke, and I miscounted the number of strokes I did as I approached the wall. As I turned over so I could do a flip turn off the wall, my head slammed INTO the wall. It hurt a lot...I think I may have drawn some blood, but I'm not sure (I know I did once from a swimming related injury, but I'm not sure how. It might have just been a bloody nose.).

2: In middle school, we had a number of activities that took place outside the school grounds. One of these was at a dance and performing arts studio. On the way into the practice area, there was an interesting sign posted up on the wall. It had instructions as a "just in case" for some kind of negative emotion/state (something like angst, confusion, mania, or something like that) and directed the reader to slam their head against a circular area drawn on the sign until "darkness ensued." I knew it was supposed to be taken humorously, but I still slammed my head against the wall several times in accordance with the directions of the sign. No known injury, but it did hurt (darkness did not ensue :( ).

3: (sorta) Like Avatar "accidentally" stabbing someone in the head, I actually shoved a kid I was playing tag with off a playground set while trying to tag him. Thankfully he didn't get any serious injuries.

That's a relief however I was wondering if it had anything to do with why Null hasn't posted since August.

Sarge has had internet issues as well as an icky work schedule. Though the internet issues were supposed to have been fixed by now...

Just think how many posts we'd have if you were both in Mallory's.

I'm relived to hear Sarge's absence is largely due to access to the internet.

And yes, it would have made a world of difference had he been posting with his usual regularity whilst we are sprinting toward our 1 millionth post.
I have been happy to fill in as best I can.
