How's about...

Post by Michael Giantfriend »

... "In the week before their departure to Arrakis, when the final scurrying about had reached a nearly unbearable frenzy, an old crone came to visit the mother of the boy, Paul."
- "Dune", Frank Herbert

2 brownie points if you can get this one:
"For two weeks, Ginny concentrated on taking care of me."

5 brownie points for this:
"The drought had lasted now for ten million years, and the reign of the terrible lizards had long since ended."

And, finally, 25 million brownie points if anyone gets this.
"Saturday, June the 13th. And Robert Caligari is going to die today."

Wild guesses

Wow Drommond! Never heard of The Book of Three!! Is it any good? Actually Ivanhoe does start out something like that--very simplistic...horse sense, so 2 speak. hahaha :D

Ok Michael--I kno none of these r correct--but my warped sense of humor makes the answers seem very funny 2 me!

1. Chronicles of Amber
2. Jurassic Park
3. The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari

Close, but no cigar

Post by Michael Giantfriend »

Clues, then?

No. 1 is by our very own SRD, if that helps.

No. 2 is by the guy that more or less invented the idea of geostationary orbit satellites

If No. 3 were "The Cabinet of Dr Caligari", he would probably be saying "You have a Woman's Cabinet, m'lord!"  :D

#1 is *definitely* one of the "The Man Who..." books. But which one? Arrgh! I will have to check tonight!

The others, I haven't a clue. Good going, Giantfriend! You've stumped us all!

I'm stumped too, Michael :?

How about some easy ones from my library..
1)The nightbefore Geraden came for her, Terisa Morgan had a dream - one of the few she could ever remember. (I told you they were easy)

2)On this day of days there was an unfamiliar stirring deep inside the heart of the Hayholt, in the castle's bewildering warren of quiet passages and overgrown, ivy-choked courtyards, in the monk's holes and damp, shadowed chambers.

3)Alice was beginning to get very tired of sitting by her sister on the bank, and of having nothing to do: once or twice she peeped into the book her sister was reading, but it had no pictures or conversations in it, "and what is the use of a book,"thought Alice, "without pictures or conversations?"

1 brownie each - these are easy (confidence boosters)! :D

Rough guesses! 1 I'm sure is A Mirror of Her Dreams
2. I don't know but due to ur recent raves probably The Dragonbone Chair
3. I Love You Alice B. Tolkas ( :D no, just kidding) Must b Alice Though the Looking Glass

See if you can guess this one: "We should start back," Gared urged as the woods began to grow dark around them. "The wildlings are dead."

"The drought had lasted now for ten million years, and the reign of the terrible lizards had long since ended." Arthur C. Clarke, 2001: A Space Odyssey

"Saturday, June the 13th. And Robert Caligari is going to die today." Tom Baker: The Boy Who Kicked Pigs

I'm going to have to think of some of my own ;)

Couldn't resist 'Alice' - early fantasy reading for me...

Twould be an angry aston ;)

Try:

1. "It is possible that I already had some presentiment of my future"

2. "Boris Johnson stepped lightly and automatically off the outermost strip of the groundlevel glideway and onto the sidewalk lip"
