Anyway, I just stay logged in automatically.
This.
I'm Murrin wrote:There is a bug where if you click the little "view new posts" marker beside a topic, it rarely takes you to the newest one, though.
Yeah, that's a little annoying. But I still use it and then scroll down to the first unread post.

Always logged in automatically. I don't care about what the computer stores about me.
But then again I use one password for everything and haven't changed it since 1996.

Meant to ask earlier, what's the 'orange dot tree'?

That's how a few odd people around here refer to the new post markers beside everything.

I resemble that remark...

Damn, but there's a Florida football joke in here somewhere...

Indeed, Menolly is the best-known user of this term, but it was first coined by Emotional Leper in December of 2007.
EL was also a Floridian, IIRC, so Wayfriend may have a point.
Although I must point out that Menolly is no longer in Florida.

Nope.
South Carolina, IIRC.
...but the ole ball coach did wind up there.
However, EL did live in Gator Town for a short time.

I'm from Florida, and I never called it that.
Just sayin'.

Fair enough Ms. Mary. It is a big state. Let us localize the problem to the northern half of the state, perhaps even to Gainesville.
EL only called it "orange dot tree" once, and the testimony on him is that he was only a Gator Town resident briefly. Menolly spent rather longer there (and was briefly at FSU sometime prior), which may account for her being responsible for most of the other 50+ references to the term.
Rescued she is, but only two years ago...and old habits die hard.

EL! I remember that guy...
Sorus wrote:I lurk unless I'm actively posting.

See, now that I hear people talking I'm thinking maybe I'm more in your direction! I just always used to lurk unless I had something to respond to.
*sigh* I often feel it's such an effort to log in... hehe.
Maybe I should lower my vote down to "Sometimes"! ...well, okay it still counts as more than half the time these days - so "usually" it is.

I occasionally log in when I have no posting in mind to see the orange "new Hellfires", but most of the time when I haven't got any posting in mind, I'm just lurking.

Orange Blinky Posts. I believe that is the technical term.

I'm always automatically logged in and do use the orange "hellfires" to see new posts.

vader mentioned passwords. I have two. and only have the second because facebook insisted I change my password. I don't deal with money online so the net worth of someone getting my password would be to annoy all of you.
this means I have had my password (that I use for everything else but fb) for some 14ish years.

Orange hellfires. And always logged in automatically.
They make us change our passwords on our work computers every 3 months. I find it a massive annoyance.

Oh, goodness, I have to do that, too.
So annoying. I basically use the same password and just change the digits in it each time a change is required.

Yup! I suspect that's what most people do.
