Maybe I'm a bit more pedestrian in my tastes, but I really liked Crash and hated Magnolia. I haven't seen Crash since seeing in the theater though, so I wonder if I'd have any interest now. But I wanted to like Magnolia, but found it a major irritant, other than the frog scene at the end. I really enjoyed that part of it, and liked the music too.

Considering how many people like them, I have never really been a fan of the Star Wars movies. I saw the original movie in the movie theater and came away thinking it was OK, and for kids (I think I was 13) but not for me.

People raved over The Empire Strikes Back, and it was a little better but overall probably not a movie I would want to watch again. Saw part of Return of the Jedi and thought it was utter crap.

For the final 3, friends at the time persuaded me to go to all of them and I though they were OK at best and really have no desire to see them again.

If I can avoid going to see the forthcoming one I will.

I finally found the time to watch Clerks a few months ago and was shocked to discover that I hated it. The film has a reputation for being a cult classic and Kevin Smith's first feature but I couldn't get over the amateur acting, clunky dialog and poor cinematography. I suppose if I had watched it back in the 90s I may have had a different opinion. I watch Comic Book Men regularly and it was interesting to see Walt Flanagan in the film. Other than that I sat watching the thing with a WTF look on my face.

Personally I've never understood the adulation of Smith - I think his movies are terrible.

C'mon guys; the scene in the car;

One guy is explaining to the other about how his cousin died as a result of trying to suck his own dick.

"Poor bastard - they found him lying on his bed with his legs over his head and his balls resting on his lips!"

Got to be one of the best lines ever commited to celluloid.

Yes. A darker version of the Star Trek universe could be brilliant if done right. I didn't even watch the second one. The first one felt like a parody of everything that was wrong with ToS. It would have been better if it had been a satire.

I've been a Val Kilmer fan since Top Secret, and I'm an unashamed fan of the admittedly not-so-good remake of The Island of Dr Moreau. The movie's a mess, but it's at least an interesting mess.

Wrong thread?

I've been waiting for Kilmer to make a comeback. He's too talented not to.

Check him out in Spartan. It's written and directed by Davis Mamet.

I think I was supposed to love Independence Day but I loathed it. With every molecule in my body I loathed it. A hot (debatable), fighter pilot president of the US shooting down alien bad guys 'cause there is a shortage of fighter pilots. 8O Judd Hirsch, a good actor embracing every freeking stereotype of a Jew in one character, a terminally injured first lady that has time for long good byes and hugs and kisses. This movie was every stereotype shoved into one gigantic mess. The world in doomed without one computer nerd and a hero bucking bronco president. What pisses me most is the waste of a talented group of actors.

Nationalistic crap.
