Yup, meant to say that. They'd be in some danger if my ears were pierced.
Michaelm -- you people and your instruments with keys.

Whoa! Did you have them pierced at one time?

Nope -- no piercings here. My kids have, though. MagickMaker had two in each ear (I think she only wears one in each now) and a tasteful little stud on one side of her nose. Batty had her ears pierced, but she had trouble with them getting infected and finally just let them close up again.

My sister used to get infections in her piercings - think she was allergic to nickel or something, could only wear pure silver.

MagickMaker has a nickel allergy, too. She only wears silver now.

I can only wear pure silver or surgical steel. Have 3 rings in my left ear...they were silver for nearly 20 years, but recently switched to black surgical steel.

Thanks Av!!
My wife has specific tastes in Jewelry and its hard to find this stuff except online. However the downside to ordering online, is I have had stuff show up that seemed to only resemble what I thought I was ordering.

I like giving jewellery...if it's not something specific, I've gotten it made by a manufacturing jeweller in the past.

No piercings for me either. Daughter has several in each year, belly button and while we were away on holiday a few years ago she had her tongue pierced!

I just do not get the tongue piercing thing. Just seems like it would be uncomfortable -- plus the risk of chipping a tooth on the thing. Thanks, but no.

I used to have four piercings in my left ear (three in a row in the usual places and one up in the top crease) and two in the right. But then I had a reaction to metal and hadn't worn pierced earrings for decades. I repierced the first holes in each ear myself with a thicker stud earring the night before 'fest in my Albuquerque hotel room.
...fortunately, that went well without incident.

We're not big on presents.
I got a disappearing TARDIS mug.
Blake's 7 Series One DVDs
Some Doctor Who Big Finish audio stories.
One track mind, anyone?
Early presents from my Hawaii second honeymoon trip:
Bird of Paradise earrings
Iridescent green teardrop shaped pendant and matching earrings

I have 3 holes in each ear. Buck of the Dawn (my son) is doing the gauges thing. Hey, it could be worse; he could be a Justin Bieber fan or something.
My big present this year was my kids coming to Africa to see us. Even though we had to pay for it, it was the only thing I wanted this year.

I got a Christmas card from overseas.
It said on the front: Good Things Come to Those Who Wait!
On the inside was a penguin shaking a pop-up parcel an an audio voice saying: It's a smart phone. It's a smart phone. I'm sure it's a smart phone.
Then the sound of broken glass, to which the penguin says: It's a broken smart phone. A very expensive, broken, smart phone.
Now that Christmas is over I took the card apart.
There was a small printed circuit board loaded with 3 lithium batteries, and...the smallest electric motor I have ever seen.
I will be checking Airfix model shops seeing what I could use the batteries and the
motor for.

A helichopper, maybe. Or an Old Gregor Windjammer ...
