I don't think a Bond film should be a gritty slice of everyday secret service realism; I think it should be an after Christmas dinner slump in front of the telly bit of slapstick fun. I really think they work better that way.

These days, they probably do. But they weren't intended that way...

Agreed Av, but they've sort of cornered that market and it's actually not a bad one to have [though quite possibly if you deliberately tried to make them that way you'd fail miserably]. Anyway - I heard that Damon is returning to the Bourne roll for another outing, so I'll save my money for that.

I, too, prefer my Bond with a dash of tongue-in-cheek, a scruple of implausible, and a jigger of comic-book character. Otherwise, it's Bourne Identity, innit? I guess that's why I like the ones like Live and Let Die and Moonraker.

Live and Let Die was a great book, but I wasn't that taken with the film. And sadly, Moonraker is probably one of my least favourite.

What confuses me is why this thread is in Gen Disc instead of Flicks.

I hadn't noticed until you mentioned it, Av. I don't know why. I agree that it should be. Given your gnarly
Administrator lordship powers I imagine you could rectify the situation with no difficulty.

The 1st Bond film was Casino Royale, with Bond being played by Barry Nelson. Connery was the 3rd Bond, and Dr. No was the 2nd Bond movie.

I think we should form a pitchfork welding mob and storm the castle of the wretch who first posted it here (hope it wasn't me

) who will shale his fist and hurl imprecations at us from the battlements while the flames lick his heels!

Okey dokey.
If y'all had mentioned this a couple of weeks ago, I could've poked Rigel in person. Too bad you missed your opportunity.

Oh, I'll take it; but not with Glee. Glee belongs in TV Shows

I've never watched Glee; I doubt it would interest me.
