I don't think a Bond film should be a gritty slice of everyday secret service realism; I think it should be an after Christmas dinner slump in front of the telly bit of slapstick fun. I really think they work better that way.

These days, they probably do. But they weren't intended that way... :D

Agreed Av, but they've sort of cornered that market and it's actually not a bad one to have [though quite possibly if you deliberately tried to make them that way you'd fail miserably]. Anyway - I heard that Damon is returning to the Bourne roll for another outing, so I'll save my money for that.

I, too, prefer my Bond with a dash of tongue-in-cheek, a scruple of implausible, and a jigger of comic-book character. Otherwise, it's Bourne Identity, innit? I guess that's why I like the ones like Live and Let Die and Moonraker.

Live and Let Die was a great book, but I wasn't that taken with the film. And sadly, Moonraker is probably one of my least favourite.

What confuses me is why this thread is in Gen Disc instead of Flicks. :D

I hadn't noticed until you mentioned it, Av. I don't know why. I agree that it should be. Given your gnarly Administrator lordship powers I imagine you could rectify the situation with no difficulty. :-)

The 1st Bond film was Casino Royale, with Bond being played by Barry Nelson. Connery was the 3rd Bond, and Dr. No was the 2nd Bond movie.

I think we should form a pitchfork welding mob and storm the castle of the wretch who first posted it here (hope it wasn't me  ) who will shale his fist and hurl imprecations at us from the battlements while the flames lick his heels!

Okey dokey.

If y'all had mentioned this a couple of weeks ago, I could've poked Rigel in person. Too bad you missed your opportunity.

I've never watched Glee; I doubt it would interest me.
