Can we buy advance copies? At the very least, direct order?

Absolutely. This was the most fascinating thing about hearing him read two years ago, when I heard the first bit of the new book. Like... the grass that the only the Ranyhyn can eat (that I can never spell without looking up), amanibhavam, is pronounced ah-mah-nee-bi-VAHM, if memory serves (my original post is probably archived here somewhere). It was something of a shock to realize that what SRD'd just said was in fact a word I recognized visually, but not aurally.

I bet he's been asked these three a million times, but:

1) Which Chronicles character do you think you're most like?

2) Did your divorce factor heavily into the Gap series, or vice versa?

3) What's the air speed velocity of an unladen....uhh, nevermind

LOL

Monty Python references are always appreciated!

Would you ever consider writing any more of the Axbrewder mysteries? What are the chances of a big screen version of them (great screenplay material, imo)?

Yaay! That's a question to ask an enterprising producer, not SRD, surely? Soo... who knows an enterprising producer?

Is the title A Dark and Hungry God Arises a reference to vengeance? If so, to what does it refer? :? :x

(This is driving me nuts....)

That reads like a thread topic ... too tempting to pass up. :)

I've always taken it to refer to the dark power of some disembodied evil, such as the hunger of consuming ambition. Something lurking in the unseen is gathering itself to rise.

Why don't you ask him about his Christian background and how it relates to the story

Wasn't he raised Christian, but turned away from it? So I doubt he would consciously think of Christianity as anything other than as a source of ideas, like his knowledge of Hinduism let's say.

I'd like to know where he came up with the idea for using

Vain and Findail as the new Staff of Law

I wonder if he ever had any alternate titles for his previous books. Like "Return of the Jedi" was out as "Revenge of the Jedi", until someone decided that Jedi really didn't approve of revenge.

There was an altrenate title for Lord Foul's Bane at one time: Lord Foul's Servant. It's shown at this site:

netserver.massmedia.com/~mikeb/booktour/lord_fouls_bane.htm

Might be interesting to ask about the various meanings/suggestions those two titles. Or might not! Personally I'd ask if he can recommend a good area Mexican restaurant, but that's just me. :)

In a 1979 interview, you commented on the new Covenant trilogy that you were writing. You referred to it as "II Covenant", and said that you referred to it for your own purposes as "Restoration" to distinguish it from "Covenant", the first trilogy.

Is there a single word that you could similarly use to describe the final four books?

Guest who are you? If u r coming to Elohimfest-I'd really like to know about it so I can help accomodate you-I too can apprise u of very good Mexican restaurants--although "New Mexican"cuisine, imho, is spicier and better... :D

It was me, I wasn't logged in. It would be great to come, but, I am not happily located in relation to New Mexico. :) Thanks for the kind thought, hope everyone has a great time!

Off-Topic Aside:
I always ask around for good Mexican restaurants, wherever I am (a small obsession), and I do semi-regular road trips...so actually, danlo, if you have a couple good NM restaurants to pass on in a PM I'd file them away in the ol' brain box for if I'm passing through.
