This is just me being a grouse as normal. Every time the subject arises I wind up telling people that a celebrity death doesn't have a direct impact on their life, presuming they weren't a family member or close friend. Of course, people are free to dismiss my dismissiveness since I am not in a position to tell anyone how to feel.

Be on the lookout for people under 30 stating that they will miss Debbie Reynolds. It is highly unlikely that they even know who she was or watched any of her movies.

I'm curious about that too. That sort of thing is why I generally try to avoid meeting authors that I like, though I always thought SRD had patience for the likes of us.

And I'm going to agree with most of what Cag said. Yes, there is the knowledge that the person never knew you existed, but that doesn't mean the person didn't have an impact on your life. I don't think it's strange to feel a real sense of loss.
