Darth, do you know they took 'Gullible' out of the dictionary? Hierachy told me.

A lot of Americans don't have a great sense of humor.... it's true...but they are frequently the butt of the joke for the ones that do. Call it community service :D

Regardless, we'll marvel at our own paradoxes by simultaneously pumping out quality programming like the The Simpsons along with stunning feco-tainment like "Joe Millionaire" , "When Animals Attack vol. 15" and "The Mullets" :|

[And if you've never heard of these latter shows, assume that it's for a reason. :) ]

Americans don't understand Irony? Our comedies are great despite our lack of humor? How....ironic. Looks like we understand it better than we let on....

I like US comedies best because I never get to see British ones, except for Benny Hill and Monte Python, which I love.

US Comedies I like best:

M*A*S*H
Scrubs
Frazier
Cheers
Mork & Mindy
Bosom Buddies
Simpsons
Futurama
Saturday Night Live
Dandelion don't tell no lies
Dandelion will make you wise
Tell me if she laughs or cries
Blow away dandelion

I'm afraid there's no denying
I'm just a dandelion
a fate I don't deserve.

Americans get their very brightest to write the episodes for their comedies... That's why they are very funny... however in some ways the Americans don't understand irony... Not every American mind... Because making such a narrow minded presumption would be ridiculous... but a lot of them don't... I have met many Americans... and I use Irony in the way I talk all the time... and they often look at me as though I'm stupid... though some (Undoubtedly dAN and a few other members) would say I am... it was not down to my thickness that they didn't understand... It was down to their lack of understanding when it came to Irony.

You know who really don't understand irony? Canadians.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

I think American comedies I like are greater in number, but the best of the British beat the best of the American. When I say best, I am of course referring primarily to Blackadder and Red Dwarf
