Captain Nemo in LXG was incredible.

You forgot Captain Power and Captain Sensible.
[quote="Caer Sylvanus"]Tom as a captain? I'm not sure about that. He can pilot a ship, but I can't see him leading one. Not one much bigger than the Delta Flyer, anyway. Something fast and specialized with a skeleton crew, maybe. He'd make a great executive officer, though.quote]
Nah, I think he'd be great. Sure he's got some growing up to do, but a bit of responsibility would soon set him on track. He has the flair and ability to think on his feet that makes the difference between a great Captain and a competent one.

I'm not saying he should apply to succeed Picard or anything, but imagine him commanding something like Cha'kotay's Ma'quis ship. I think he'd be perfect.

You know, I kinda like Scott Bakula's character. After watching a mere three episodes, I realize I want to see them all.

Though I'll always think of Kirk when I think of Star Trek, I totally agree that Picard was and is the best all around captain.

After all the Scott Bakula bashing, I can't believe what I'm reading from you dAN. :D

Well, upon retrospection, I may have judged him too harshly. QL was just not the right show for me, but Bakula did show a lot of range. I think it's the assistant that I really didn't like, but I cannot remember his name, so I picked on Scott. Unfair, but true. Archer is a good captain. Pickard would still be my favourite, Sisko 2nd, Kirk 3rd, and Archer 4th.

I love that film.

Anyway, I personally love Janeway, although from, a 'managerial' perspective I would say Picard.

Galaxy Quest rules! My kids can't pronounce Sigourney right, tho. They say Sigourmet. I'm sure that many of us adult males agree.

picard...but if they'd given Will his own ship/series he could have been the best. as tough as kirk with the regal stewardship potential of picard.

Hmmm .... let's see:

- he had the woman leader of a planet
- a woman assassin (well almost)
- loves spending time on Risa
- often in 10 forward with a woman
- in love with a sultry woman from the holo deck
- etc

- and ... oh yeah ... Troy on the side (remember Riker 2 had HER)

:P
