LOL!
A lot of women will "just know" that kind of thing, especially married women like the First, and I'll bet Pitchwife would have known just as easily as his wife...besides, it wouldn't have been too difficult to figure out with the Haruchai guarding the door, because their flat refusal to let anyone disturb them if they tried would have spoken volumes...and anyone looking for Linden in her room would have found it empty...
*shrug* I would imagine that it would have been pretty obvious to anyone on the Dromond

Somehow I doubt, though, that the Giants would have bothered to check whether Linden was in her own cabin.
I do wonder with what mixture of duty and envious nostalgia Brinn and/or Cail announced that the ur-Lord and the Chosen did not wish to be disturbed (in laboriously un-tonal vowels and stiffly precise consonants).
Shared pain is lessened; shared joy is increased.

Well I think that it was obvious to the giants because they instinctively know and Pitchwife said that they love children and the making of children.
Likewise watching the two interact together and their various sacrifices for one another it was obvious that the two shared deep feelings for one another without saying them out-loud. So the giants logically put two and two together and came up with a three (or four) letter word.
Hmm, wonder what the giants crudely call it?? heh
