I saw the entire cycle for sale at Half Price Books about a month ago for only $50. If they haven't sold it by now, I am seriously considering buying it.
I have the Solti set and consider it excellent. Birgit Nilsson -- a soprano of such legendary power and purity that her high C once created a panic in the streets outside the opera house as it was mistaken for a fire alarm -- is simply stupefying as Brunnhilde, and all of the other major parts are quite satisfying and evocative in their performances especially Siegfried, Wotan, and Hagen.
