found it. my odyssey is lattimore's translation too. my aeneidis the Oxford UP trans by Day Lewis. Will have to give it a go one of these days.

I think we can blame that one on hollywood. It's funny how film makers tend to blend various parts of literature together in order to create a new story. :o

Its been awhile since I read it, but I'm pretty sure the trojan horse (Odysseus' brainchild) and the fall of Troy was described by a character in Virgil's Aenid.

I've just come to the part in "The Iliad" where the Muse is listing all the names of the warriors, and commanders. I know a lot of people who would skip this portion of the book and get back to the story, but I figure I owe it to the poet and to history to read each name, sort of tribute for this massive and most beautiful work. Cheers.
