I agree completely. Warner Brothers is crazy. I have no interest in seeing Catwoman AT ALL.

A better look at the FF. Looks like things are coming together but I'm still a bit worried.

Well i know all the actors from one thing or another. Not too bad a choice since i think there aren't that many good actors out there at the moment.

I guess we'll just have to see how it turns out.

I fear that this is not going to be a good movie ... I feel the casting is horrible, and from what I understand, they are taking HUGE liberties with the origin story - which, in my mind (read: that of a life-long comic book fan), is utter blasphemy.

Michael Chiklis doesn't do it for me at all--he lost weight and is supposed to be good in the Shield, but wasn't he somewhat of a fat slob in is earlier, acclamied, cop show on the free-networks. He's nowhere near as tall as that promo leads you to believe and, I agree, looks nothing like Bemn Grimm. I mean before Daredevil (and I agree I give that movie too much credit simply because it's my all time fav comic) my two biggest heroes (?) as a chicklet were Hulk and the Thing. But the Hulk first. I jumped off my stool at the donut shop, and me dad thought I was looney (well at least that hasn't changed :P ) in eXtasy when Hulk cleaned the Thing's clock in Hulk v. Thing. After that I never had much use for FF. (I always wanted Plastic Man to clean RR's clock too, btw...)

My buddy just called to say that the movie is better than he expected it to be. He said it was better than Batman Begins (but then again, he's not much of a DC fan.)

I don't think it was as good as Batman Begins, but it was a good flick. Much better than I expected it to be, thanks to the critics.

It was alright - Mr. Fantastic was bad, Invisible Girl/Woman was quite hot, but kind of flat; Human Torch was very good, Thing was the most compelling character of it.

However, the major disappointment was Dr. Doom - veyr poorly done. Didn't really convey the sadness of the character.

It was decent though.

Yeah, Doom wasn't right. I liked all of the FF though; thought it was an accurate portrayal of the comic book characters.

Just saw this movie. I've never been a big fan of the FF, but I did like the movie. You're right when you say that Doom wasn't right; as I remember him from the comics, he didn't have super powers (is that correct?) He was more of a deluded criminal mastermind, as I recall. Reed Richards was still a big wuss, but the Torch was done well. The Thing always seemed stronger in the comics than he was protrayed. The hottest thing on screen was (no surprise here) the ultra-smokin' Jessica Alba.

dlb,

No, I don't think Dr. Doom had superpowers in the comics, making that part of the movie even lamer.

Doom's mom was a gypsy who dabbled in the dark arts, which Doom picked up while trying to establish his roots (his mom died when he was a wee lad). He also is a gifted scientist (like Reed), but was too prone to taking risks, and a lab explosion is what damaged his face, causing him to wear a mask. All his 'powers' in the comic were a result fo him melding his mother's magic and his technologal prowess in his suit of armor, but mostly it was technology/magic until recently. He never sucked electricity out of a wall socket before; that was always Electro's power.

I actually didn't know that Doom was disfigured. I always thought he was so delusional that he believed himself to be disfigured but wasn't. Shows what I know about Dr. Doom.

aTOMiC wrote:Well. Jessica Alba, though attractive, has not shown me in her existing work that she can convey the personality I expect from a Sue Storm/Richards. I am willing to admit that I have no true idea what she is capable of. I have watched a few episodes of Dark Angel but there is a 0% chance of my sitting through "Honey". FF may be her breakout film in my estimation.
I watched Honey today. Actually, I bought it. It has Jessica Alba, and was only $6. It was, indeed, every single bit as bad a movie as anyone might imagine. But, it has Jessica Alba, and was only $6. I've done far, far stupider things with $6.
