Struck me as an interesting concept in the book, that the Earth itself could somehow offer it's own life blood to those worthy/brave enuf to make the attempt.

I read the dark tower books at my wife's insistance. Not being a big King fan, I was pleasantly surprised. They are quality fantasy... but then, Eyes of the Dragon and The Talisman were pretty good, too (though it's probably been over ten years since I read them)

<U>The Gunslinger</U> (isn't that the first book of the series?) didn't do it for me. I was sorry that it didn't, because I think King is fantastic at times. <U>Firestarter</U> and <U>The Dead Zone</U> are, imo, the best books of the genre. <U>The Stand</U> fascinated me throughout, although the end kinda let me down.

But then, some of King's books are not much to speak of. (My opinion again ) <U>Bag of Bones</U> is a good example. His style is still great - good flow, enough human interest and mystery to keep you going - but I don't really remember much about it. Nothing stands out in my mind, as it does with the books of his that I love. (Although I like the few sentences where he explains what sex is for men. Women should know this. I'm not saying it's good or bad, it's just the way we are. And if I had the book, I'd type it here.)

At the time I joined, most people were named after TCTC characters/features, and I was looking for one not quite that obvious. I chose Roger, but I couldn't call myself Roger in case people thought it was really my name, and Roger Covenant sounded lame, so I went with the next thing that came to mind (not mention the advantage of this name being slightly silly)

I've always liked villians and Kinslaughterer is about as despicable as they come. I also liked his little rhyme for calling the sea too.
Perhaps it has meaning on a subconscious level as well...

Ylva means wolf, therefore I chose the Kresh as surename. And are not great evil yellow wolves cool??? Kresh sounds like they are crushing something (or someone...). Or it could be the sound of throwing up something small and not so tasty/important.

Brinn...My favorite Haruchai from my favorite race in the Land. Brinn who succeeds in defeating Ak Haru Ardenol Kenaustin. Brinn who becomes perfection.

I always loved harsh sounding names. Tulizar is a name I made up when I was in grade school (many years ago) for a D&D magic-user. Of all the characters I played and wrote about, that name always stuck with me. Probably because that was the most carefree time of my life--good friends and memories and all of that.

clearfrontier = Clear Frontier The name of my band since 1985.

I like girl names that sound very feminine. Infelice had a kind of femininey italian ring to it.... I loved the name the very first time I read it.

When first joining this board all the good names were pretty much taken. I love the giants and wanted a giant name. But wanted a giant name that would fit the giants and my own personal passion. Thus Seafoam a good giantish name and Understone my passion: caving.

Still trying to figure out a good title to go with the name. Should have enuff wgd to do so.

its cool to know how some of you came upon yer names as some arent like character names from the chrons ..

i really like seafoam understone .. cool sounding and a clever use of giantish-ish words/themes.
