Led Zeppelin is the standard against which all other bands are compared, and are found lacking, IMHO.
Back in the 80s, when pop was pop and hair bands were all over the place, GnR came out with one of the most originals sounds ever. Axel Rose was a kick-a-- singer and Slash is one of my top 5 favorite guitarists. Appetite for Destruction was a cut above the rest of the music around at the time. GnR could have ruled the world. Instead, Rose became a snotty-nosed freak, and GnR went down in flames.

Axl's voice annoys me, but maybe I'd think differently if I hadn't been a small child when GnR were in their prime.

I don't like Led zeppelin... I prefer Mcfly!!!! Because they have the same name as the guy outta back to the future.
Biff:"Hey McFly!!! I thought I told you never to come in here!!! Where's my homework already?"

Zep's definitely in my top 5. Used to have GnR's Appetite for Destruction and Use Your Illusion. Great music, but just stopped listening to it after a while.

Can't take Axel's voice. Music's not bad though.
Led ROCKS!!! They were like a steamroller, crushing everything!

BURN McFLY!!!! BURN THEM ALL!!!
Led Zeppelin are the greatest, along with Pink Floyed, Rolling Stones, Deep Purple, etc.....
GnR are all right but i would not say they are 'outstanding' but they are good though

LOL, reckon McFly were named after the guy in Back to the future?
I.E. "Hey McFly???? Where's my homework already???" LOL
On a related note. Anyone notice how all 80's movies have a really depressing view of the future?? I.E. Everything is all black and polluted???

Or is it just me??

AC/DC is going to be remembered as one of the greatest of all time, throw technical ability out the window. What makes a great band is a unique, but listenable sound. One of the greatest live acts of all time!Hell I like Bon and Brian,I like The Beatles, whatever brought this up in this thread?Anyway Angus is one of the greatest frontmen in rock history,he really makes the band. Be True

As I was cruising around I noticed this AC/DC thread as I also happen to be listening to the Highway to Hell album.Lowbrow as it may be an occasional dose is good for your soul.I like Bon and Brian-the only alternitive to finding a new singer/screacher was folding the band.Imagine the world of rock music without Back in Black or For Those About To Rock I believe they got the best fit in the world as a replacement.Being into ACDC is like getting two great bands in one.Rock on!And Angus rules!

There's been quite a few AC/DC songs I've liked in both the Bon Scott and Brian Johnson eras. My favorite AC/DC song will vary as I keep changing my mind, but for right now it's "Live Wire"!

My favorite songs by ACDC are "Back in Black," and "Ride On."
But I have to say, their music hasn't aged well for me. I skip almost every song that streams through.

Well, it's true that their music, while catchy, isn't difficult or sophisticated (except for the lead guitar lines). And the lyrics aren't exactly cerebral, either. Some songs of theirs are still fun to listen to, but haven't aged as well as the music of Rush, I agree!
