I think Predator2 was as good as the original. Seriously.

I've only seen it once, so I couldn't argue the point. I'm just going on the idea that any sequel owes so much to the original, since it already has a background. A great first movie has to establish everything, and be good, too.

Predator 2 is absolutely fantastic and I prefer it to the first one.

I just rented Aliens vs Pred.
It was OK.
Wasn't good but didn't suck.
Pred II sucked though.
I have trouble believing Glover could run up a flight of stairs nevermind what he was supposed to have done in that movie!

Aliens 2 was maybe as good as Alien I, just in a different way.

I once heard that Alien only has about 20 minutes of actual dialogue and that that is part of what makes it so damn freaky. I then rented it out to watch and I'd definately believe the rumour, although I haven't found it confirmed anywhere.

Aliens is absolutely brilliant, and I prefer it to the original (which is very good as well). I think it's Cameron's best movie by far, and I'd probably rate it as the best action movie ever. Great allegory for the Vietnam War as well.
P2 is no P1, but I still enjoyed it.
The less said about A3 and A4 the better, though the director's cut of A3 is certainly better than the theatrical release.

Allegory for Vietnam War - hmmmmm, I've never seen that. I'll have to think about that for a while.

Which itself is an allegory for something.

I prefer Alien and Alien 3 to Aliens, but then I tend to prefer tension and understatement to brash overkill.

Alien 3 - was that the one that killed Newt?! With the inmates? If it was - I thought it sucked!!!
Course could be my bad taste in movies!

Yes. It was a poor reworking of the original idea (one sneaky and intimidating alien, rather than oodles of dull and unthreatening ones) but still better than Aliens, for the reasons I've given in brackets.
