How do you pronounce that AN bit on the end of dAN? Is it just louder or is there a kind of semi-pause between the d- and the -an? Or does the tone have to be higher? Lower? Somewhere between higher and lower? Sideways?

You mean you don't know? Have you been living in a cave or something?

Quisling disbelieves claims of influenza. If it is wished,
Quisling will exact revenge most foul for this, the blackest of insults.
This is only one of numerous benefits to being a friend of the
Quisling.

Yeah, the twitching stopped after about twelve hours. I had pins and needles in my hands so bad that I couldn't really do much with them for the next five days though. I also learnt that there are levels of consciousness that I never knew existed.

I got hit in the neck once by a vicious guy who used to go to my school and I had agonising pins and needles all over my body for a few minutes afterwards.
I also once got smacked amazingly right on the funnybone by a rounders bat once. My arm was useless for the rest of the day. It's like when you've slept on your arm and the blood rushes back into it but ten times worse and it lasts ten times as long.

There are two possibilities here:
A. she is giving you a polite brush off
B. she really is sick
You should give her the benefit of the doubt and call again in a few days. If she gives you another excuse at that time, perhaps reconsider and not call after that...

What Duchess said.
I'd probably use that excuse if I had too, but then it'd be terrible if I actually had the flu and liked the guy but he never called back.

I asked a girl out on a date, and I thought giving her a flower would be nice, as well. So I walk up to her and hand her the rose and ask her out. She looks me up and down and says, "I don't want that. I wan't a dandelion." It was the way she pronounced dandelion that was odd; emphasis on the 'an' and 'lion'. Never saw her again.

Hehe. Of Course I plan on calling her again. I just wanted to post a silly poll.

No, I don't think he had any tattoos. The club was the Leadmill, in case you're familiar with it.
Not familiar with the place, asked because I did once work with a barman from Sheffield named Paul (who was very tattooed) and it just made me wonder. It's a small world after all
Thanks

I voted no, because if she really did have the flu, but did want to go out, why didn't she say, "I have the flu, let's go out next week when I'm feeling better?"

Well, I just got independent confirmation. She really does have the flu, and my confidence level went back to where it was earlier this week. So I finally gave it my own vote.

It's interesting that 81% voted one way, and 18% the other. What happened to the other 1%? Al Gore wants to know.....
