There might be after the series is finished. But no, so far nothing is known about the rights being taken on by a studio.

God, the very thought.

Mind you... Douglas Adams spent the last years 20 years of his life attempting to get "The Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy" made into a movie and frequently failing because he wouldn't let anyone take liberties with it.

Douglas Adams died in 2001. The forthcoming "Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy" is to feature none other than Mos' Def playing the role of Ford Prefect.

Eddie Murphy voicing the Ranyhyn may not be too far away. But I'll be OK with it as long as Chris Rock gets to play Lord Mhoram.

I shudder at the thought of the HGttG being made into a movie.

I'll give you Chris Rock as Morham, but we've gotta have Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan as Tohrm and Birinair. Their wacky chemistry will definately pack the seats. Ohh, and Gary Oldman's always so creepy. He'd be perfect for Drool.

Antonio Banderas as Hile Troy?

Hillary Duff as Lena?

AAAIIIIGGHHHHH!!!!!!!

Any objections to James Belushi playing either Covenant or Mhoram?

Just found this forum. Wow! Dedicated to TC. Excellent. Anyway...

Nick Nolte is Thomas Covenant.

I really REALLY hate to cite a scene from a big budget action flick for a reference to what I'm talking about, but the part in Spiderman where Nick Nolte is ranting at Bruce, trying to get him to lose his temper when they're seated in that big electric generator gun thingy at the military base is pure Covenant.

Wild-eyed, raving, mad, but also articulate. Even sad and regretful at times during that speech. Perfect examples of what he could bring to the role.

The Hitchhiker's movie can still be great because Douglas Adams himself wrote all but the very last revision of the screenplay. As for casting...I was put off a bit by some guy called "Mos' Def" playing the role of Ford, but I'll withold judgment for now, since all indications point to the idea that these guys are treating the material very respectfully...

Allow me to point you here.

Duly noted, but I must say that no matter how good the screenwriter is it's only his baby for so long. Once it gets filmed it's in the hands of the producers, director, editor, special effects people and... casting agents.

I await it with due dread and trepidation.

I agree Christian Bale could be a pretty good choice for the role - wasn't sure about it until I saw Equilibrium, but now I think he might be able to pull it off.

Oh, and welcome back, Sky!

Despite his personal problems, RDJr is a great actor, but I would have serious reservations against him playing TC, not because he would be bad at it, necesarily, but because whenever I see RDJr I always think of him in the role he played in one of my personal favorite films, Home For The Holidays. It's a great film, especially if you've ever had to talk your SO off the proverbial ledge after a holiday family get-together that went terribly, terribly wrong... like every other year with a holiday family get-together.

I think it would be better to take chances with an unknown than go for a big $ star that has an axe to grind or a career arc in flux.

Having said that, Queen Latifah would make a kick-ass First of the Search. And just think about the inevitable Giant-Ship Deluxe Pizza tie-in promotion with Pizza Hut.

If Queen Latifa isthe First, although I see her more as Atiaran, then
Bannor should be Chuck D....think about it.....

Staying with the Pop music theme, Ad-Rock from the Beasties should be Mhoram.
Avril Levinge as Lena.
The singer from Evanescence as Elena (aged of course)
Tony Bennett as Prothall.
Henry Rollins as Foamfollower.
Micheal Jackson as Drool.
Iggy Pop as Quaan.
Justin Timberlake as Troy. (please don't hate me for that one..)
Nora Jones as Amatin
Diana Krall as Loerya.
....And I was thinking of Billy Corgan as TC, back when he had a full head of hair, and got looking at an old album cover..(Smashing Pumpkins that is) and the drummer (Jimmy Chamberlain is his name)...man HE'S Covenant.

Covenant is the chosen one, we need an 'actor' familiar with these roles.

Basically, we need keanu reeves!
