I think they're referring back to the opening post, which asked the significance of the name Esmer (ie, Aunt Esmerelda.)

Yep. Clearly where SRD got his inspiration for Esmer.

(Yes and the Monkey's I think sang about an Aunty with a simular name...grezelda? )
Don't forget SRD is famous for switching around sounds of words to bring about the same effect. The only problem with this is everybody "hears" differently. When I think of Esmer I think of Elmers School glue...
Maybe he is the binding or the bounding of many ideas...
(I also think of 'Else' the cow who was the icon for Borden Milk products)
Now I've probably made it worse for you haven't I?
I still say Anele is backward for Elena.

esmer- the closest i could find is this:

--- 'isomer: Chemistry. Any of two or more substances that are composed of the same elements in the same proportions but differ in properties"

-----'Greek isomeres, having equal share'.

could this have some significance to esmers duality?

Kinda makes me wonder if we're going to meet someone named Elda in Fatal Revenant. "Esmer! Elda! Yooo hoooo!!!!" LOL

You know SRD says that some of his names just come from his head...they're not ALL metafores.

drew, we don't appreciate that kind of comment here at the Watch. We like to examine everything to death, and speculate way beyond anything SRD ever imagined. I like to think that SRD posts so rarely here (only twice, iirc) because he thinks we're lunatics. If we all start calming down, we lose our reputation. 'k?

Acctually I don't think you guys are lunatics, and I've posted here a little over 400 times!

Anele is Elena written backwards. Isn't it nice Sunder and Hollian paid hommage to Elena this way. ;)

Or didn't. It's nice to think SRD made this reference, but he swears it's a coincidence.

yeah, he's a writer. he must have seen that the word backwards was another name from his story. whatever. it's cool to me.

It's in his Gradual Interview, at his website...

www.stephenrdonaldson.com/

It's huge, so it'll take you a lot of time to sift though...

But it has a lot of interesting stuff.
