Yeah, a definite plus in my opinion. That's why I love writing so much. It allows me to be far clearer, to say what I mean, (usually anyway) and gives me the time to consider the nuances and implications of what I'm saying.

...hhhmmm...superficiality of life...,,aaammm...I take it you are not a salesperson in real li..rl?..I mean...You do have thoughts. You do eat nourishment that gives you energy to do things...so if you find yourself discussing the weather always with team mates and family members and friends..you are quite free to change that..as in.." hey, read any good books lately?"..or ..have you heard the latest CD by..?"..or .." Rush Lumbaugh, is he one drug addict or what?",,or " My God!, you have the prettiest blue eyes i've ever seen.."..or ..tell a joke, as in..A priest, a Rabbi and a Iman, walk into a bar..each one of them became upset with what they saw..."...
...Point is,, for me..chatrooms are not for the introverted..they are for the exploration and enlightenment. i expect the new perspective and am seldom let down,,well,,okay,,at my age there is a lot of heebie geebie heard hundreds of time before..but,,thank god the internet isn't restricted by the borders of the country one lives in...Again ,,freedom...freedom to let it all out, experiment,,express..be true..because nobody is going to reach thru the crt and beat the crap out of you for upsetting them. ..The funny thing is..the one chatroom that i regulary attend and in rl..we actually get together once a year or so..is the one in which I can insult and expect to be insulted the most in............MEL

Beer is all very well, and I certainly won't turn my nose up at one, but a good joint is a far better stimulator of philosophical discussion.

(Not to mention suiting Monty Python viewing perfectly.)

Lurch: all those things (or most of them) I do, but that's still superficial. I wouldn't tell anyone my secrets, I'm very shy, I find it hard to talk to people I don't know. Many things I've said on here I'd be embarrassed for people I know in real life to see.
I can be a funny guy, sociable, interesting, but it's all a facade. I've never really opened up to anyone. Nobody really knows me.

From what little I have seen of you peeking out around the edges of your posts, you are a delight. Don't hide your light under a bushel. You are cheating the world of what it desperately needs--a bright light in a time of darkness.
Come out and play in the sunshine. Those that don't understand or appreciate you--well, it's their loss. As my old college roommate used to say, "Screw 'em if they can't take a joke."
BTW--We all have our little protective facades for a variety of occasions. Nothing abnormal in that.

Why? Nothing I've ever seen you post has diminished my opinion of you. Quite the contrary in fact.
Take ChoChiyo's advice. It's good.
Kym-- Time for a new job?

If you ever change your mind, let me know.

Thanks guys. I'd love to take your advice, but I have to live with these people, and the most comfortable way I can see of getting through it is by using the facade. I don't think many people would find me enjoyable to be around if I went about spouting off my opinions.
I got a taster of that when I ventured the opinion that I wish people would stop bothering me about giving money to tsunami victims. Yes, I think it's a worthy cause. Yes, I think they could do with our help. But I don't want their suffering transferred onto me by way of pestering.
I find it safer to keep my more "provocative" opinions to myself.
As for the embarrassment of people I know seeing things I've posted, some of the things I've said would probably be contrary to whatever facades I've used.

Fair enough. Although we could argue that people who wouldn't want to be around you because of your opinions are probably people who you're better off not knowing anyway.
Don't worry about it for now though, I have no doubt that you'll eventually become one of those people who doesn't really care what people think of his opinions.
Sure, some may think you callous and cold, but your personality should never be tailored to other peoples expectations. If they've taken the time to learn you, then they'll have a different view.
Personally, my more "extreme" opinions tend amuse the people that I know, although probably for sick and twisted reasons of their own.

Nathan, don't feel bad about giving more money to the tsunami relief. I feel the same way. Of course, I am not in a position to give more anyway. I think that this country's 350 million in taxes is a goodly amount. Indonesia wants us out of their country by March anyway. We are only there to help and they apparently don't want our help - just our money! Why aren't we sending money to the mudslide victims in California? I know I sound a little harsh. I do sympathize with the people who have lost homes and families and I do pray for them.
ANYWAY - I digress. You say that no one really knows you. NO ONE will every really know you. They can't read your thoughts or know how you feel. But, someday, you will meet someone who will be able to read you better than anyone - someone you will feel very close to.

I hope so, Caamora. I really do.
