That's definately what I thought. It was pretty remarkable how much flak they took over their controllers in the original xbox.

I think I'll wind up getting it. I'm a sucker for white consoles. Then again, I might wait for the PS3. Depends on what killer apps the systems have.

So...just wondering if any Watchers are set on getting the Xbox 360? Did anyone pre-order it?

A fellow co-worker of mine put down a deposit a while ago, and he was planning to go this morning to an early store opening to get the precious machine. Alas, I can't get his opinion of the system til next week because he's booked this whole week off (golly, I wonder why!). I envy him.

I heard on the news that there is going to be a shortage of Xbox 360 units for sale, because most of them have already been snapped up by pre-orders. Microsoft isn't helping: apparently they're not going to rush manufacturing because they say they don't want to compromise Xbox build quality. Others say the shortage is obviously a deliberate ploy to increase hype.

Whatever the case, there's no question this is a sexy gaming machine with more processing power than I could afford to pay for if I was trying to match it with PC parts. I'd have to seriously upgrade my motherboard, CPU, RAM, videocard, soundcard...and that would already be well over $500. Or I could just get the Xbox 360 for less. I'm normally pro-PC, but I admit I'm sorely tempted to get this shiny new console, once the feeding frenzy subsides.

I won't be able to afford any console for the next few years, not if I want to be able to afford things like food and clothing.

Oh yah! I really want to get this baby. But I did not pre-order, or anything like that. I will wait until after Xmas...

They're easy to obtain anywhere except the USA, where they're permanently sold out. (Buy American and all that)
