For those who might be interested.
On the website,
www.dunenovels.com, KA started a blog regarding Dune 7... Hunters of Dune and Sandworms of Dune.
Also I discovered a site with a pretty good fan fiction of Book 7.

Thought I'd just bump this to let anybody who is interested know that the
Dune Group Read is back on track at
Planetfall: Arrakis on danlo's forum,
Ahira's Hangar.
Anybody who wants to share their thoughts and insights into this incredible story is more than welcome to join up and take part.
I'll be posting Chapter 7 on (my) Monday, so check it out and have your say.

Everybody is welcome, and if you'd like to sign up for a chapter, just let me know.
If you love
Dune, then that's the place to tell us all about it.

Just another bump to let Dune fans (and I don't mean the Fremen) know about the group read at the Hangar. Come on, make danlo and Avatar happy: go over there and foolishly make your mental imbalances plain to everyone, as I have.
Besides, the Hangar is running a heckuva lot smoother than the Watch these days.
Jay might actually get around to doing something about the Watch problems, like needlessly harassing Vain, but I think our "High" Lord is too busy getting "high" from smoking cats to be able to form any coherent plan of action...
(Oooh, he's gonna ban me for that one)

Thanks MM.
It's good to have you joining in.

Regardless of what you think about your own opinion and balance or lack thereof,

you've already brought a valuable insight to the discussion that will certainly affect the way I read
Dune from here on out.
Duchess posted Chapter 8 on the weekend, and the next chapter should there by Monday, so don't delay, read
Dune with us today.

I just wanted to say that a couple of years back I sold my original (untainted) Dune Encyclopedia on ebay for a pretty penny. I think I got around $60 out of it. Now they're going for $150-375. Maybe I should have held onto it a bit longer. *shrugs*

I wish I had this Dune Encyclopedia. It's almost like a mythical object to me: always mentioned in passing, but never seen.

I found one at half.com for about $35 dollars.
It became the center of one of the greatest jokes I have ever played on anyone in my life.
For the weeks leading up to Elohimfest I kept mentioning the Encyclopedia to Fisty, as one of his dreams was to own one. Man, did I ever rub that book into his face.

I drove him nuts.
So at Elohimfest I gave it to him.
The look on his face was
classic!!!!
I had bought it for him originally - but I couldn't help but tease him a bit.

Yeah, I got $125 for the one duchess gave me. Not a bad haul!
Not that it wasn't fun to read it for a while.
No. I didn't sell it. But if duchess get's even a second's worth of panic, we're even.

Aww. . . she was nice to you, and you're being mean to her. That's no way to treat a friend. Even if she did give you a hard time about it first.

It's OK, he's just teasing me.
One of the few things I ever really wanted when I was growing up was a big brother, like all of my girl friends had. Someone to take me for snowmobile rides and take me fishing and out on the sailboat, and teach me how to play baseball and ice hockey.
Well, fate or God or simple circumstance did not give me a big brother. But now as an adult, I have two of them in Danlo and Fisty. And no one could ask for better brothers, adopted or biological, than those two beloved friends.
But the thing is, that as with all siblings, there can be a bit of teasing every now and then.

Yeah, I got that from what he said. I just thought I'd give him a guilt trip.

Hope you didn't mind.

Meh. . . I read it several times already. I'd actually rather watch the movie. Kyle MacLachlan, Patrick Stewart, and Sting are quite nice to look at.

(Edited to say: Yes, I know that there is another version out: I own that as well. But I prefer the first one, as I am a purist. And I like David Lynch.)
Actually, I would have seriously liked the book better if I had never read anything after Dune. Dune Messiah. . . Children of Dune. . . God Emperor of Dune. . . honestly I can't remember if I even read GE. It's that bad. But I do like the characters in the first book. I know. . . I'm not a *real* fan of Dune. See above comment about selling the Dune Encyclopedia.

Haha, us purists think the Lynch movie was terrible. And you missed out on GE. It's confusing at first but it actually fits in very well. If you want to debate it though, well, join us.
