Or perhaps their fear is different - maybe species-wide since they can communicate or have a single mind. May also explain their racial fanaticism or genetic imperialism.

This might in fact be a good question to ask Stephen Donaldson. Loremaster, you'll have to phrase it. Make sure it encompasses all our points here, and put in it the smart well you usually go about things. :D
