If Rockbrother is another name for fealty and faith, then Saltheart Foamfollower is another name perseverence and hope.

Not even much so for "the land" but moreso for the reader. After the tragedy of the Illearth war, after witnessing the loss of Elena, Warmark Hile Troy, the Giants of Coerci and countless men and women when I read the following lines, It broke whatever wall was inside me and the hot tears within flooded my vision with it's expulsion.
A Giant? Covenant thought dumbly. For the first time, he noticed the size of the hands which supported him. They were twice as big as his. They turned him lightly, lifted him into the air as if he were weightless.
He found himself looking into up into the face of Saltheart Foamfollower.

Yikes! Another eucatastrophe involving Foamfollower, and one that I don't remember?! Time to reread TPTP...

I don't remember whether there were tears in my first reading of the mythos. (Though my threshold is nearly as low as Linden's, no kidding, I may have been reading too fast the first time.) Certainly in all later readings; my responsiveness to certain scenes/chapters only grows with repetition, and especially with learning what other readers find moving.

8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O Shock Horror!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't cry, but the second time I read the Chrons I got a bit more emotional (but I only showed my emotions on the inside 8) ). I held my breath a few times. :)

We seem to mainly be talking about Foamfollower. I mean, he was a great character, but what about Bannor? He was cool.
