Just curious: Were we supposed to be answering the question about what defines a person, or a man?
Yes.
Run with it.

Yes, consumerism is actually rampant enough to make guys think that the beer they drink is what defines them as a man
I'm a homebrewer, so yes, my beer defines me as a man!
I make very strong, flavorful, assertive beers that are complex, full bodied, and (given the level of hop alpha acids), pleasantly bitter. Just like me.

I drink Arrogant Bastard Ale (Slogan: "It's Not Expensive - You're Just Cheap!") any time I can get it. Tried homebrewing a few years ago - I sure wouldn't want to be defined as what we came up with!

Arrogant Bastard is one of my favorites. I bottle my brew in lots of those 22 oz bombers! Double Bastard is even better (10% abv). Really, anything Stone brews is wonderful. I also like Great Divide, Bells, North Coast, just to name a few. I make primarily IPAs, APAs, sweet stouts, and a few ambers. I'm still in my first year, however, with 18 batches under my belt (literally!).
