Frank Frazetta, Boris Vallejo, Simon Bisley...pretty much my top 3 faves...although im not really sure if Bisley really does many fantasy BOOKS...Frank Frazettas been doing his thing since the 40s, and everything hes done is just so good...him and Boris are two of my major influences as far as art goes as well...

Does your mental picture include the unzipped bodice and the phallic zipper handles?

Personally, no. But as far as potential Gap-related art goes, that's pretty tame.

Not that I have anything against the current covers, but I would be interested in seeing people instead of ships, and I bet he could do awesome work with the Amnion.

Well, not with the Amnion. You know what I mean. :P

I painted a pretty cool scene from Lord of the Rings. How do I post it here?

You would have to scan it onto your pc and host it using imageshack or photobucket etc.

Yeah, I've scanned it (actually, I've taken nice digital picture of it). So it's now in my hard drive, JPEG format. I'm not sure what you mean by "host" it. And I've never heard of that software. Sorry, I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to the Net.

It really is a fantastic painting. I worked on it for two years, built a frame for it. Oh well, I'll do a little research and get it posted here.

well...what you do is...you google up Photobucket. the rest is easy. it tells you what to do. you have to enable cookies but otherwise, it's the easiest thing in the world. there's a little button that says something like "browse" and you hit it and it opens up "my pictures" or whatever and then you pick the one you want and hit another button that says "submit" and it grabs the photo.

you don't have to download software or anything, you just register with photobucket.

once it's in your photobucket album you can copy it here. totally easy.

Lucimay, thanks for the help! That was easy. Here's my "masterpiece," as my wife calls it. The first picture is the whole thing, in the frame I built. Following after that are close-ups.

This "painting" was actually done with oil pastels, a medium I prefer to oil paints, because I can sit on my couch, relax, have a beer, and listen to music while I "paint" (I refuse to call it coloring, even though oil pastels look like big Crayons). The 4'X2.5' painting is actually 8 separate pieces that I glued to a plywood backing, then built the frame out of trim you'd use for a door, and then had a piece of plexiglass cut to fit (oil pastels never dry, they collect dust if you don't cover them).

Damn Malik, not bad at all. you should link to these in the Art Thread (With Pictures) in Gen Disc. I like the background detail, and the organic-looking balustrade.

Very impressive. :D

Funny that this topic's been revived just as I want to find it.

I've just finished Dan Simmons' The Fall of Hyperion and I went in search of attempts to represent the Shrike. I found a few, but not one of them fits the descriptions. Frustrating. Anyone know of any above and beyond those easily located on Google?
