Pssh, as if Gilly will go there. He is too skilled.

And Tazz, who do you go for in footy? Sadly (this year), I go for the bombers. But Lloydy is in town! :)

US foot ball is more about the tactics; if you're into fast passed action, it's deffinataly not for you.
Baseball can be nearly as boring to play as it is to watch..but again, if you concentrate on the plays and not the lack of running around, it can be fun.

As for Hockey:

...sorry...

;)

But Hockey! ... now there is my sport: fast, aggressive, action-packed... the skill and speed of these guys is a beauty to watch... espcially the teams from the west, like Vancouver and Edmonton...

sorry you don't like this stuff... your loss... ;) :)
and PS-Hockey is NOT an American sport.

NZ gets pretty much the whole season on TV, although the coverage is generally quite stripped-down. It's not a huge sport here, but it has its die-hards. I'm pretty sure we have an Aussie Rules competition, but it'd be very much small-time.

Hockey now... If there had been anything resembling an ice-rink in Wellington, I would be a hockey player now. I don't know if I'd have been any good, but I'd have put everything I had into it. But it was geographically and logistically impossible. I first saw it when I was 13, and I was hooked instantly. Unfortunately, the TV coverage (which wasn't great pre-lockout) is now non-existant, thanks to my nemesis, Comcast. I blame ESPN for their apathy towards the broadcast rights, but Comcast are the evil ****ers who decided that "international broadcast is cost-prohibitive" (their exact words), and put everything onto networks with nothing else of note unless you're into country music - which you pay extra for, obviously. The last game I saw was the final in mid '04. Being a hockey fan in NZ sucks like you wouldn't believe.

Forgive the mini-rant.
