hey, its all subjective. they had their roots in punk i agree. i just think by the end they had broken their boundries and couldn't be defined in one genre. the clashes message was one of political and social idealism. most other punk bands were nihilistic.
Today, all punk is dead.
totally agree. which day do you think punk died? or did it just fade away?

Yeah, categorizing is definitely subjective!
Anyway, I don't think there was a day punk died. I see it really as a shortlived, but great, movement that had its roots in its day, you know? It had to run out of steam, and it did.

Punk was pretty much over and done in the early '80s.

I always loved that cover, and am sincerely moved by the selfless sacrifive the Precision Bass made so people all over the world like myself could love that cover. In other news, I got Sandinista! last friday, and it rocks!

The main difference being that Paul Simonon was trying to kill a roach with his bass, while Elvis was trying to eat his Martin.....
